Gotta agree with this. I just don't get the defense of Burke by the apologists in here. Any one of them could have done what Burke has done - 're-stock' the Marlies with fair to middling prospects. Big deal.

o cause dudley has such an amazing resume? he had to draft jaybo and horton where he did. his best late round pick was booth and that was only 2nd round. anyone he drafted 3rd round on never became successful in the NHL

Fun fact (although you've never once let those pesky little facts get in your way before): I never liked Wilson. I gave him a chance based on his reputation, but it became apparent he wasn't going to work out very early on.

The messed up part is that guys like Foligno are exactly what Burke was preaching. You think he'd take special attention and actually do what he was saying he would do. It's just a small example but it's annoying that the Leafs have to trade guys like Keith Aulie for Carter Ashton to ATTEMPT to get a power-forward meanwhile, they're right there under his nose and he passes on them.

I think teams usually pick the players they like and think will be good prospects. yeah okay Foligno looks like is going to Pan out for the Sabres. But lets remember who the coach was in 2009 for the Leafs Ron Wilson.

What Burke said when he first took over never really panned out and he mentioned it in his press conference after he fired Wilson. I'm not defending Burke I'm just stating the fact Burke built the team the way Wilson wanted the team built. Now its his job to build the team the way Carlyle wants it built.
