Prospects inked

The Flyers signed two defensive prospects, the University of Maine's Matt Mangene and the Medicine Hat Tigers' Matt Kohan, to entry-level deals.

Mangene, 23, signed a 2-year entry-level deal, the maximum length allowed under the CBA for his age. He collected 34 points in 40 games for Maine in his junior season before deciding to leave school early. He signed an AHL tryout contract and will report to the Phantoms on Tuesday for the final 10 games of this season before his contract begins in the fall.

Kohan, 20, is finishing up his fifth and final season of junior eligibility in the WHL with Medicine Hat. He's chipped in with 54 points in 72 games in the regular season before leading the Tigers past Saskatoon in the first round of the playoffs last weekend. He probably won't get his first taste of pro hockey this season, as the Tigers are still battling for a Memorial Cup.

I say every time the Flyers get a chance they should take runs and the penguins players... Even Danny said the hit was meant to injure. I say fight fire with fire. Shoot the puck a bunch from the point.... Take every chance to hit, and hit hard... No one lets up... apenguin touches the puck, he gets hit... And every oppertunity to "clear" the puck should end up in the penguins bench... The penguins already think the have a supirior team, so why do they feel like they have to injure your competition.... Like every sports movie where the "bad" team tells the players to "take him out." Unfortunately the media, other then Milbury, refuses to see them for what they really are... Dirty whiners... There is nothing worse... I can handle Dirty players... I can handle whiney players... But Dirty players that Whine... UGH... I hope Crosby's bulb finally breaks and I hope Malkin's knee explodes.... grumble....grumble.....grumble..

Good blog, Bill. Another well-written piece. I sincerely hope the Flyers take scoring first to heart and make it happen again tonight. While they have not yet won when they did that against the Rangers , it's much easier to hold a lead than come back in a game - though this year's Flyers team sure seems to make the reverse seem true at times.
