Well, we've had some help from others teams' fans lately staying active. They must keep coming back for our delightful collective personality
- BulliesPhan87

we just get under the skin of most because A it's a Philadelphia Team and B the Flyers are a lock for the playoffs every year so they are a legitimate contender year in and year out. C I can't think of but when I do i will post it randomly

my point was the Flyers have a big following regardless of the website.

All really bad ideas. You want to hurt the Pens, win the game. Doing cheap stupid stuff like that leads to retaliation. And injury risk to your own team. Or suspensions. Play the game hard, but play it right. And set the tone for the playoffs.

Which is what the Flyers have been doing to Pittsburgh all season so far.

Exactly. So no no reason to change and follow some of the knuckle head suggestions being made.

My suspicion is that if the last game is meaningless for the standings, and perhaps even if it meaningful, Crosby will not dress.

well, it may be obvious but with all the calls to flatten Crosby....worth pointing out that the chance may not arise.

I have no qualms with Shelley taking a run at Crosby or Malkin, although it doesn't seem to fit Shelley's persona. Vitale's hit was clean, but again, his intentions were to injure. It's that fine line where you say a play was clean but you know in the back of your head that the only reason he went for the big hit was to hurt Briere and send a sign. And because they want to open the door to that stuff, I don't mind the Flyers retaliating. I'd rather not let our important players participate, since we can't afford a Simmonds/Hartnell/Rinaldo suspension. (Rinaldo maybe).

But there's nothing wrong with the eye-for-an-eye mentality. Vitale took 2 borderline runs at 2 of our staples. Think about what Grossman has provided in absence of Pronger. Think of what Briere offers around playoff time. The notion that we may be without both players due to a nobody taking runs is infuriating. We could blow them out 8-0 on Saturday, but it doesn't change the fact that we're down 2 men.

Instead, why not take a run at Crosby or Letang and see if we can shake one of their players up? Let's even up the score here. It's not about being dirty or unfair; it's about repaying the favor. Let Shelley or Lilja take the same "clean" hit on Crosby or Letang, see if the Pens have any problems with the results...

In terms of winning percentage, the Flyers are second behind Montreal... So... there is a reason we have the fans.

I would think the pens would want to come out and make a statement to the flyers (even if the game is meaningless in the standings) because of their poor record against the flyers the last 2 seasons and they will meet in the first round this year.

The flyers should do the same for the opposite reasons. Keep their momentum rolling against a dangerous team, dont let the foot off the gas against these guys.

My guess is Saturday will be anything but meaningless.

And if it results in a retaliation by the Pens that causes another injury to a key player on the Flyers, would it be worth it? I think the Flyers should play their game and take the physical opportunities that come up in the normal flow of the game. Stand up to challenges. But no need to go looking for extracarricular activities that have the potential to backfire.

The last thing the flyers want to do is get caught up in a series filled with cheap shots and taking runs at players. They need to forget about this past sunday. Flyers have won 8 of the last 11 and are 5-0 at Consol. No need to jeopardize their recent dominance over the pens. The playoffs are a long haul and they cant afford to be limping after round 1.

What do you actually think while your watching the game... is it all stats, and future arguements to you, or do you find enjoyment in the game at all. Do you have emotion? Can you not invest in this team? Do you not want to see someone pay for BS they pull on what you say is your team....

I'm sorry MJL, but you are the Holden Caulfield of this site.... Phoney!

absolutely. just play hard. play right. and hopefully win the game. no need to start the war of attrition a game early.

if crosby happened to get maimed, i wouldn't be terribly sad though.
