I'm positive if the situation was reversed, everyone here would be whining that Bylsma overreacted and there'd be no uproar on a hit like that on a penguins player.

You dont usually see any players taking runs like that late in a game that is out of reach... And you rarely see a coach use his last change to put out a tough line against a skill line to get revenge on a puny cross check that Crysby started.

There was so much actual hockey that went on in that game that I'm kinda disappointed we are all stuck on that 10 seconds of silliness.

lol what tough guy line do we have? That line had Schenn and Simmons on it, they are tough guys.

Any line we would have put out has a combination of skill and grit. Pens didn't like getting embarrassed at home against there eventual playoff opponent. What they did made sense if you think about it. It was a clean body check.

A month ago I couldn't wait for the playoffs to start. Now it's like I can't wait for them to be over already.

As long as the Flyers won the game I'm not too upset. I'm more upset about the hit on Grossmann which put him out of commission for a week or more hasn't gotten more air time. That's really got me pissed other than that all the other stuff is a bi-product of two physical rivals playing each other.

Pens had last change, and waited before playing that line... Its not like Lavi said who wants to get lit up.... and Briere said..."ME". It was cheap what BILEsma did. Thats why Lavi was pissed. If Dan wanted to send a message... Send out the goons before last change and let the Flyers counter... But BILEsma wanted someone to get hurt...

OK, not sure how this goes against what I said.

Even without last change Crosby probably isn't on the ice in the last minute of a rough 6-3 game. But the point remains, if he was and he got rocked with a clean hit that's hockey and I wouldn't have a problem with it.

This is a no-win argument if at anytime you feel compelled to stop do not feel as though you lost, because victory is unattainable in these issues.

So, getting back to hockey, what does everyone think about Bryz getting back on the horse tonight? I think if he can get a win on the Rags that could propel him on a rampage like he was on in March again.

Clean hit. Time and situation of game doesn't matter d!ck.

- rockychocbill

Cleary the NHL believes time matters regarding fighting with under 5 minutes left in a game.

I think the reasoning behind that rule is applicable (to an extent) and is why many are salty about the Briere hit.

In 2003, the ECHL added an ejection, fine, and suspension of an additional game for any player charged as an instigator of a fight during the final five minutes of the third period or any overtime. The NHL and AHL adopted the rule in 2005–06, and the NHL includes a fine against the ejected player's head coach

No need for apology I was just trying to douse the fire. Like I said earlier an actual entertaining hockey game took place for 59 minutes or so before that 10 seconds of loveliness. All is well sometimes certain conversations require an acquired taste or lack thereof I suppose.

i think it's a big game for him, and the team. need the win. forget what it means or doesn't mean in the standings. it's about a potential matchup down the road, probably ECF.

I wonder if home ice is up for grabs on Saturday how intense the game will be knowing the playoffs are a game away? In other words, do they keep things in check and wait for the games that really matter, or does the war start Saturday?

Yea I think this might be our season here and I hate to put so much on one regular season game. From a mental standpoint this is a big game for not just Bryz but the team too.

Hard to say. I think if home ice is up for grabs it's a relatively clean game until the outcome is decided. If it's a 3 or 4 goal game with a period to go sparks could surely fly.

If home ice is already decided I think both teams rest guys imo.

No not a spy but a rare breed: A Flyers fan that likes Sidney Crosby. The exception that proves the rule, as they say.
