As for the other post. After last night I think Quick has the edge. He has been bailed out by his offense very few times and he has 10 freaking shutouts! His record doesn't do him justice since he has lost multiple games 1-0 and 2-1 because somehow his offense forgot how to score for a while there.

- kgrpitt

Quick should win it over that over dressed clown in the NYR ( ). Mostly because the Kings could barely score a goal at any point this season and somehow made the playoffs. Their offense is brutal.

13 times he has lost while giving up 2 goals or less.

Well there you go I knew it was alot. That is a crazy stat. Curious what the numbers are for rangers in the same stat? Do you have a website that shows this or just went through his record?

Yeah I think there offense has righted the ship a bit to end the year. SJ may miss the playoffs, that is something I did not see coming at the start of this year.

The thing about Bylsma is that he never, ever shows any emotion. It's something that I wish we would see. Like when Malkin turns it over at the blueline on the PP and gives away a shorthanded goal. Most coaches would be livid, but Bylsma, while he doesn't look happy, he still looks calm. So when it came to the bench antics, I didn't expect to see him lose his cool.
- Ben37

I agree about occasionally showing emotion. I think a coach needs a good mix of being a "players coach" but at the same time be willing to let a guy know when he screws up. One thing is for sure, if Iron Mike was back behind the bench, we wouldn't be seeing these defensive gaffs......not that I want him back.

Bad example with Malkin at the blue line. I hang the blame for that on HCDB. The PP is a disaster because he's unwilling to split up Sid and Geno and he's got guys out of position. I can't believe he doesn't see how the benefit of rolling two number 1 units with short shifts....

I would take philly losing for some breathing room for sure. Rather have home ice for sure than a small chance at the conference. I cant see the rangers not even going to OT for the next 3 games with lundqvist in net.

Also do you guys think big mac comes in for the game against philly to make sure things dont get out of hand?

I was wondering this as well, but the team handled themselves pretty well last time. Not sure we need big Mac but it would be entertaining to watch.

I am very against bringing Big Mac in, totally sends the wrong message and if anything were to happen I don't want any of the fallout to cost suspension with the playoffs looming.

The only possible reason for bringing Mac in, is if Shelley is in. But the problem is, the Pens will not know if Shelley is in until just before game time, and recalling MacIntyre just in case, will indeed send the wrong message.

I really don't think anything is going to happen Saturday. Neither team wants to jeopardize one of their players getting hurt or suspended (or coaches suspended) for playoffs.

And really, no one needs to "send a message" to the other team... Both teams know what each other is about, it's not like anything Saturday will change anything.

I liked seeing Crosby coming out yesterday and owning his slashes in his interviews. They don't like each other. It's gonna be so good.

From a Philly fan perspective it feels like we are watching the birth of the next Red Wings vs Avalanche rivalry.

Speaking of which ...anyone seen the top 10 Rivalries show on the NHL Network, it was pretty good.

Ya I guess it may send a bad message for sure if the teams are still within 2 points of each other. If we go into the game 3 pts ahead I think it could still get ugly just because. Hopefully both teams want to score goals to send a message if the standings are set before the game.

Got a link to that interview and the Bylsma one? For some unknown reason I can't access nhl.com but I can type the link into Word and it somehow bypasses the internet block.

I actually doubt this game gets out of hand whatsoever. Each coach will be telling their players to stay out of the box and to play smart. Neither team wants to get into a stupid battle of who can hit who the most and risk injuring themselves and giving the league a reason to suspend them before the playoffs.

Lots of very young core players that are gonna see each other for a very long time, you could be right.

No offense, but where have you been since 1967? This rivalry has been going on a lot longer than Wings vs Avs......

I like knowing Crosby has that bit of an edge... He has taken a TON of abuse over the years, giving some shots back isn't a bad thing for an elite player at all.

Stoosh over at Pensblog today made a good point, and reference to the Sedins:
There is a lot of value to that facet of a player's game, especially with someone as naturally-gifted as Crosby. Occasionally it gets the best of him, just as it does with Malkin and Lemieux, from time to time (ask Todd Krygier or Brad Ference.) Crosby, Malkin...those guys are all going to give back what they get sometimes. Trust me, as a fan of a particular Western Conference team who made it to the Cup Finals last year, I saw what can happen when a couple of elite skilled players who don't quite have that same edge get bumped off their game and don't respond in kind.

I don't disagree but the previous years never seemed to have the hate to this level.
the 5 OT game was a long game..not filled with hate though..nor was that series..
the series 3 and 4 seasons ago were rough and with the exception of Hatcher running Crosby at the end of Game 5...were not blatant I want to kill the other team.
Through the Lindros vs Jagr era i dont remebmer there being this much hate

I am not talking the length of the rivalry but rather the intensity of 2 specific seasons..The Flyers\Pens have as much hatred towards the Panthers as the Wings and Avalanache did outside those 2 years..

I brought up the Wings Vs Avalanche because everyone remembers the 2 consecutive seasons of chaos and bloodshed those teams went through.

It was good.

TSN did top 10 weird things to happen in hockey or something like that.

Does anyone remember "Sharky" coming down from the rafters in SJ when they were playing the Wings? He got stuck half way down and was hanging there through the anthems, the game was delayed about 20 minutes while they tried to figure out how to get him down.

I forgot all about that.

Does Mike Milbury know a thing about the Penguins. When has Bylsma ever shown any emotion? Is anyone other than Milbury shocked that the always calm and collected Bylsma wasn't losing his head. Unlike Laviolette who has been known as more of a rant and rave coach.
- Ben37

Mike Milbury is an absolute DB. For a supposed Colgate grad, he isn't smart. Heck, no one in Hamilton, NY likes the guy. He was a punk in college.

How a guy that charged the stands in one of the most famous events in hockey as well as have assault charges filed against him by the family of an 11-year old kid has a job as an analyst is beyond me. As Denis Potvin said today - he isn't an analyst ... he is an antagonist. Milbury doesn't know hockey much anymore. He runs his mouth constantly.

The DB was doing nothing more than feeding the egos of the arrogant Flyer fans with his most recent interview. He was playing to the crowd. If he was on a Pittsburgh station, he would have called Schenn a punk for the cross check and ripped into Lav for his whining.

I don't think so. All of the hosts on The Fan have called and asked him to come on and defend his comments. At first he just declined, then he said "you have to go through NBC" and that it wasn't up to him, and his final excuse to the morning show this morning was that he was "folding laundry".

What a tool!

Chicago and Vancouver deserve mention, and that was before the Keith/Sedin stuff.
