He had a great first year then hurt his knee as a 17 year old, it will probably shave 5 years off his career. I'd take Gal or Forsberg and be happy with either. - Leafland
Even with knee surgery, an American center, who played in the OHL and put up great numbers. Burke isn't passing on that for Forsberg, who is a winger. Forsberg might be the best Swede available but he's not exactly getting comparisons to another Forsberg. |

Sure you don't want Phaneuf 2.0 in Dumba? - Unholy_Goalie
Yup.
Murray seems like the obvious..... OBVIOUS pick for the Oilers.
If Tambi (frank)s this up..... |

Lets see beat Buffalo and draft 7 or lose and draft 6.....
7 it is... - Fruitcakenipple
Worst case scenario tomorrow; leafs win combined with islander, canes and duck losses.
Unlikely yes, but tomorrow is must lose for Leafs.

|

That should be interesting...Is that the same guy who kept scoring on team Canada?? - Fruitcakenipple
Thats correct.

The names kicked around by Dreger this morning were Bernier, Schneider, and Lindback. They did discuss the possibility of Luongo being the one dealt if things go badly in the playoffs in Van., and they also kicked around the concept of Kiprusoff moving a little bit, too, depending on which way the Flames go this summer. They Flames now are kind of like the Leafs in '04. - triggermartin
They are (frank)ed.

I'm no scout but some of them love him. Best swede in 10 years ..read that somewhere. I'm not saying take him but if he really is the best player available ..take him ...the Leafs aren't really in a position where they can draft by position. |

Well if we lose the rest we would probably be drafting 4th....so we'll be drafting 8th. |

Can't argue that he's superb, and it makes all the sense in the world for Burke to take him, I just don't see him as less risky then Forsberg. |

The Leafs should envy the Oilers. Daily. Not only are they drafting high and often but they're getting some serious Canadian talent. Rebuilding done properly. |

Best Swede since Karlsson? Good luck to this guy. I'm sure he has some talents but I'd take Faksa over him. At least Faksa, another center, has played in the OHL and shown what he can do over here. Forsberg isn't the best player available, regardless of position. |

Burke will take Forsberg then trade him for Joe Thornton. That's how you rebuild!

What if he comes over to North America and can't play here and turns into another Sjostrom? No thanks. I'd rather take a highly talented center like Galchenyuk or Faksa or even Gaunce who has proven they can play in the OHL. Unless this Filip Forsberg shows he can be Peter Forsberg, he isn't worth it and he is indeed a bigger risk. |

FWIW, it was McKagg at TSN ....and he said "one of the best in a decade". Just one scouts opinion though. |

But the same thing could have been said for guys like Karlsson who played in Sweden up to their draft date. |

Sweden hasn't produced many top line forwards in recent drafts.

Wait...do your thoughts about players coming to OHL hold up for the Q? Grigo has bust written all over him. Next Malkin or next bust? |
