It's awful, we can't win OR lose properly...that's the very definition of incompetent.
- p_zub

Well, dont hate on the habs cause they intend to then, hate on the leafs for being dumb enough to not bother, or to tank after they traded their 1st round pick away...

I dont know what you consider success. But being in a Cheetah Power Surge commercial is more than tremendous success.

You cant blame the players for this. The management has pretty much done all it can to dress a roster of players most likely to lose-out the season. In fact, I'm glad we have young players who don't want to just shut it down because they feel like it. It's a worse character trait than not yet being familiar with playing under pressure.

Don't get mad just because someone here is calling you out for still blaming JFJ for Burke's mistakes.

- Unholy_Goalie

JFJ all but ensured this team would suck for years after he was gone. Most people knew that at the time. Well they still haven't recovered. Shocking.

Blame Burke when (likely not an "if") Toronto isn't a contender in a few years. That'll all be on him. Guys like Seguin, Hamilton, Knight ripping up the league while Kessel walks. If he manages to grab high picks this year and next they could be in decent shape long-term though. Regardless you can bet once Burke leaves the team will be in better shape than they were when JFJ was fired.

The difference is that Reimer's concussion is well documented and he's been battling "symptoms" for most of the season, when exactly did Price get hurt?
- As_I_See_It

His suckage appears to be a symptom of him not being very good.

He is what he is and what he is is worthless. Do you seriously want me to list the better players selected after him? Reilly Smith, Taylor Beck, Michael Latta and Cody Eakin all say hi.

Finding "solid" 3rd and 4th liners isn't what we're after. You can sign those for next to nothing as UFA when the time is right. What the Leafs need are prospects that turn into players that can contribute or at least create enough value for themselves that you trade them for meaningful players.

None of those guys are in the NHL yet. Busts? If they don't make the NHL and devane does still a waste?

Right. Even though Burke has overhauled the team two, if not three and soon to be four, times. But it's still JFJ's fault. Even though Burke still has guys like Gunnarsson, Kulemin, Reimer and Frattin. You know, three of four guys that saved his ass last season with defensive efforts, 30 goals and a starting goalie that pulled the Bruins out of a lottery pick that Burke gave them?

The reason why the Leafs haven't recovered is because Burke had a crappy action plan. He refused to rebuild, he traded draft picks and he tanked anyway. He didn't make the playoffs and he didn't benefit from tanking either. You can say what you want about how bad JFJ was and I will agree with you all day but fact of the matter is Burke has made enough errors to be in the same "territory" as JFJ.

All of those guys are having WAY better hockey careers. All of them are NHL size, scored more in the OHL/NCAA and are now scoring in the AHL and/or NHL. You know, actual GOOD PROSPECTS!

But thank Burke we have a lumbering future 4th line goon who can score 23 goals as a 21 year old in the OHL. What would we do without that guy in our pipeline?!

I think we can all agree that a guy that wasn't drafted t become a PF 30 goal guy is a failure because he wont become one.

Must be why he is 4th in games played, 4th in points, 4th in +/- and 6th in ice time.

It does when you're talking about the half a dozen players Burke has acquired to be power forwards that haven't done a damn thing for the Leafs. I'm all for getting young guys and giving them a chance but you have to get the right guys and eventually at least one of them has to work out.

I bet we'd be 1st in the east with his 2 goals added. He's a junk player on a very good team putting up mediocre numbers.

Look around the 25-30 pick this year, there's not many standouts there. I don't see it as wasting anything to get him, especially when the aforementioned deal involved getting rid of Komisarak.
