Pick the best goalie when you can. This case isn't a top-10 issue, or even top-15. The two best will go between 16-40. So, pick the best bloody one when you can. They have no junior goalie prospect outside of Sparks and he's an extreme longshot at best right now.

PS (frank) HISTORY THIS IS THIS YEAR NOT 16 YEARS AGO.

trust me, being annoyed by you will have less of an impact on me, than achieving that level of annoying will impact you.

There are some in the media who have suggested the Burke is full of poop on the whole "could have had 4 first round picks". I know Pierre McGurie doesn't believe it (for what it's worth).

I do agree though; if ever Mac could get a first, it'd be at the deadline.

- Domidives

Dreger reported that and he is the closest to the front office in the entire media. It doesn't make the Leafs look good that he reported that by the way so it's not like they told him to say it.

Ask Brodeur, Fleury and Ward.

By the way, that wasn't the argument. The argument is where do you find good goalies. Fact is, the 1st round is a decent option and most likely better than any other round in the draft.

This is simple stuff and shouldn't be a revelation to anybody. And yet it is. Big surprise.

- Unholy_Goalie

so the answer is 3?

where i'm from, good goalies win championships. everything you just regurgitated weighs heavily against your little rebuild a championship team theory. 3 goalies U_G? 3 goalies??

and you feel like you've proved your point. so heavily, that you've resorted to your little try to diminish the persons intelligence level to prove your non existant point stance. very personality lacking of you..

Sorry brah, didn't see it.

I kinda like it...the Leafs have gotten off VERY easy considering how HUGE the collapse was/is.

Dion needs to step up his game, everyone knew back when he was named Captain that it was a risky choice and it's clear now that he's not cut out for it at this point.

He doesn't lead on the ice and he's a terrible interview...sorry, but that's part of being captain, you own up to stuff and you take responsibility for it...you don't say "you lose as a team" even if it's true...he should be saying "as captain of this team, especially an original 6 team, it's my job to lead by example on the ice and get the guys to step it up and I haven't done that. I take full responsibility as captain of this team".

- Juice

I honestly think him being captain is gonna be a road block in adding quality vets... Who's gonna want to play on a team with him as the leader?

Subban or the Russian kid from the WJ are ranked around 18 and 22 on McKenzie's list. A move at the draft might get them a first in and around there......someone said MacArthur could get the Leafs that but I say no way.
- Domidives

Goalies quite often fall a little further back than expected, depending on team needs. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of those two available early in the second round.

Additionally, pick the best goalie, not the biggest goalie. Starting to get sick of these 6'5, 220 lbs goalies who can't stop a damn thing just because Allaire wants The Thing in net to play his "don't even watch the puck" style.

ANDREI VASILEVSKI -- Ranked 18th by Bobby Mac.

6'3, 205 so fits with Burke's big goalie philosophy, however, he is Russian (potential KHL risk)

Malcom Subban -- ranked 22nd -- having some injury issues (groin) in Belleville this year but a real competitor and the whole PK vs. Malcom I can see being intriguing to Burke.

Keep diverting from the argument at hand if it makes you feel better. When you compare the 1st round to all the other rounds and see what the percentages are really like, come back.

valid point.. but my whole why waste the pick and years of developing in a goalie, when more 23-25 year old goaltenders already developed hit the trade market, as opposed to successful drafted goalies from the first round..

going deeper into the draft even further punches a hole in that theory.

i'm interested. what percentage of successful starting goaltenders in the nhl right now we're drafted and completely developed by the team they play for? what percentage of those goalies we're championship worthy? brodeur comes to mind..

I hope you're right. Some I already know disagree (Burn) but we're just so full of question marks at the position, let's try and groom a guy to play here in 4-5 years.
