It's also all about draft years. This one is so weak on forward they have guys like Wilson going in the first. Defencemen up the butt this draft and only two really highly touted goalies. A late first or early second will be used on one or both of Subban and Vasilevski. - AdamFrench

If the Leafs have the opportunity to take Murray, I'd do it.
The Leafs have created this hype about getting a legit 1st line center. I understand it and agree with it. However, if you get enough legit players, at any position, success will soon follow. If the Leafs have a great pick in a defenders draft, then draft defenders. Make it work.
And Subban is overrated. Horribly overrated. |

Best course of action is for the Leafs to keep who they have. Go into next season with Reimer and Scrivens. The playoffs won't be a reality but this is another excellent opportunity to tank it and draft high. It also would get Burke fired and hopefully give Dudley control.

Probably right but I worry what it'll do to Schenn, Gardiner, Franson, Gunnar and the other young guys. I'm not asking for much ....keep the picks and rebuild ...but for gods sake add a veteran goalie and add some leadership into the 3rd/4th lines.

Meaning what?
The point being made was that a lot of legit goaltenders are found in the 1st round. The point wasn't that only legit goaltenders are found in the 1st round.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. - Unholy_Goalie
Goaltending at 5 is a no. 1 st round is a crap shoot. Just as many, maybe more come from outside 1st round.
Passing over higher rated talent that is a need for a goalie that isn't as much a need is not smart.
Indeed the more things change..... |

Imo, this could ruin Reimer. He needs a vet. Find one for cheap who can be Giggy 2.0 (minus the weak groin) |

Veterans to Burke means Lombardi, Connolly, Armstrong, Komisarek and so on. If the choice is between that and playing who we have, let's just play who we have. |

If Burke ever gets fired, I hope Dudley wouldn't be the new GM. Screw that.
Nonis should take over if that were to happen. |

Ruining Reimer isn't the end of the world. He isn't that great to begin with. If he's the sacrificial lamb to another shot at a lottery pick, I'll get the fire wood, you get the matches. |

How long can I wait? If it means getting the final product right, I can wait. How long can Toronto wait? 10 minutes. And they'll complain it should have been done in 5.
Look, the reality is, the Leafs have been horrid since the lockout. That's seven full seasons. If the Leafs had adopted the right mentality seven years ago, the Leafs would be where we all want them to be TODAY.
The question you and everybody else out there, including Burke, has to ask themselves is do you want things done properly or do you want them done quickly? You want to house built today so it falls down tomorrow or do you want it built tomorrow so it stands a lifetime?
Take your pick. - Unholy_Goalie
Do you want your house built by rookies, or a few vets in addition to show them how to get things done properly? Building this house, with Reimer as the forman, isnt a great idea. He needs to be an apprentice to an experienced forman. |

Best player available ....whoever that is. Realistically, unless the win the lottery the guy they pick will be 2 - 3 yrs away ...and 5-6 yrs away from hopefully being a critical piece. |

or limit reimer to the development he needs, and go the trade route. schneider is the most nhl ready out of all the young tenders involved with situations in their own clubs. he wants to be a starter, he's american, and burke drafted him. the pricetag may be big, but it'll take a concrete truck to restrain burkes ego if the conversation even occurs. |

It's been said 10 times already. This draft doesn't have a goalie good enough to take 5th. But if the Leafs could manage to get another 1st rounder, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a goalie.
By the way, Price went 5th. No big deal though. |

I have reservations about drafting Grigorenko, I just have a feeling about that guy, don't really want him. |
