Both have played poorly for various reasons but it's easy to see Reimer has a future and Gustavsson doesn't. - Unholy_Goalie
the only thing Reimer has going for him right now is the fact that hes young and has tons of room left to improve and get better...with the proper vet who can step in, we could see Reimer do quite well...he did play his best while playing next to Giggy. |

They need a veteran like Vokoun, who, may not be playing lights out, but is better than the other veteran options out there. Maybe even a Biron. - p_zub
And why would Vokoun want to waste what little time he was left with the Leafs? Same goes for Biron.
Unfortunately, veteran goaltenders, especially good ones, don't want to screw around in Toronto and can you blame them? Play in net for a bad team, get blamed for the losses after every game and have virtually no chance to win.
If the Leafs want a veteran goalie, they will have to either trade for one or seriously overpay one as a UFA.
And yes, I'm starting to get worried that a team like the Flames might be selling a guy like Kipper and the Leafs would definitely try and be buyers. |

He played 37 games in his first year. Considering he got called up half way through the season, yeah, that was his rookie year. And he did pretty good.
Was he good enough to be the full time starter? Nope. And just like I said in the off-season, horrible goaltending would do the Leafs in this season.
Reimer at 1.8 million is a bloated contract? Wow. This keeps getting better. - Unholy_Goalie

Agreed...At this point neither one of Gus/Reimer are #1's but given age and contract status u keep James.... |

Didn't see it in reported posts, although I'm only here for a bit at a time, if it's not in reported posts, hard to get to all the comments, even with the 1000 Leaf refs around. - LeafMan
I see the roomers that you quit and eloped with Anngee, then created a new website dedicated to Schenn, Armstrong and Cupcakes was untrue. |

Reimer is probably never going to be a legit starter given his glove hand problems but he can be a decent goalie who can play 30 to 40 games a year and give the real starter a rest. |

Do you think any of our goalies in the system, will be number 1 goalies?
They're lighting up the AHL, good for them.
A few Leaf prospects have done that. Look where they are now. - jbold
Too soon to tell. Definitely potential in some of them to get there. Certainly too soon and too stupid to say there is nothing there. |

Go do a quick check around the NHL and take a look at what back-up goalies usually make. Spending 1.8 million a year on a 24 year old with some potential is hardly the worst contract they have floating around. |

You think any team selling the likes of Kipper would have a low price?

Kypreos would be better than Gustavsson in net, however. |

Nope. What's truely stupid is drafting a goalie you don't need in the top 5 passing over players who are rated much better who fits needs in your organization.
Goalies in the 1st round are usually a bad choice. |
