You can make an argument that at that point of the game, with the outcome decided, that the hit was unnecessary. But what also has to be considered, is that with the situation of the upcoming playoff matchup looming. That this is an extension of that, and trying to set a tone for it.

Right now its about revenge. They went after our hottest player, so we do the same. I really dont care if Sestito/Shelley/Rinaldo gets suspended come playoff time, they wot be playing. We need to get revenge and show that we arent going to stand for poop like that.

If Grossmann and Briere are out to start the playoffs, I guess the plan would be to replace them with Meszaros and Van Riemsdyk right? RIGGGGHHHHHTTTTT?
