i think they have more heart, and better goaltending without question. put bryz on the '09 team, and they could have won that. not to blame biron..the team in front of him melted down in game 6.

According to Paul Holmgren, Briere is "out indefinitely with upper back contusion", Grossmann out "7-10 days with lower- body injury" (team will not confirm it's the knee). Both supposed to be back for the playoffs.

Actually good news on Grossman 7-10 days lands him back for game 1, game 2 at the very latest.

The news on Briere is horrible. He was heating up and playing great.

This game on Saturday is going to be... UGLY.

I would imagine it's gamesmanship on the part of the Flyers. No doubt Danny got hit hard but I would "come up" with a reason to sit a few regulars.

Quick read up on Matt Mangene. Flyers have reportedly signed the smallish, but really fast, skater to a contract for the next two years.

Mangene played both wing and defense at Maine.

Another reason the seeding sucks - whoever survives this series is going to have a tough second round with whoever they have left.

they are saying contusion...
send him to the chiropractor and masseuse...done!!!

- phi1671

A contusion? Sounds similar to a bruise on the leg to me....candyass.

(edit....before I get jumped on, I hope Briere is OK, I just can't hear about someone getting a contusion without thinking about the scene from Miracle...hence the candyass comment)

As many times as this was replayed it certainly felt like an Oliver Stone production. Funny how NBC couldn't find footage of what preceded this

We used to feel the same way about Tocchet back in the day until 1992. I still have a Tocchet Pens sweater hanging in the closet at home. (Yes I'm THAT old)

Not sure how the cap is working out, but I keep Breire out on injury, and find some way to sit Giroux that last game unless home-ice is on the line... But I put Shelly in, Recall Walker... and the toughest guys left on the phantoms, and I take runs. They want to run our guys for the playoffs... we need to fight fire with fire.... Everyone get out the wooden sticks... so they dont break as easy when hacking crysbies hands.... Maybe a little hot sauce on the gloves for the face washes.....

Very nice - I don't really care about Bylsma, but it's great to have someone call crosby out. The rest of the national media doesn't bother to be fair about it.

Meh, I think Milbury was just playing for the audience. He would have said the exact opposite on Pittsburgh radio.

edit: To add, that is why he is such a douche.

Don't worry, we have Eric Goddard poised to jump out of the stands.

I'll take it either way. The dialogue is so one-sided from the national guys it's disgusting.

We're probably not too far off in age...that just makes us salty and grizzled.

Recchi is one of the best examples of guys who, for most of us, transcend teams...most of the time.

And he had to know it would be repeated - not like he was just talking philly radio thinking no one else would find out what he said.

Plus, we still have Steve Macintyre buried in the minors...don't know if you guys caught him channelling his inner Oglethorpe down in WBS a few weeks ago.
