I'm sure even you can understand the difference between being hit squarely from behind and going through center ice playing the puck with your head down (which is what Briere did). After all, as we've just learned, you can see the future!

- Emperor Filonius

Happened yesterday. What does that have to do with the future?

And apparently you, like other Pens fans, can't follow a line of reasoning from beginning to end.

I said nothing about Briere being hit, only about coaches and players KNOWING things before they happened. It seems to me many of you Pens fans are arguing Laviolette should have KNOWN not to put Briere out on the ice. In other words, he should have KNOWN the future.

Still, I don't expect much from you. Thanks for delivering below my low expectations.

Past history as in 6 or 7 years ago?

Because I watch every game he plays and this couldn't be further from the truth. In fact I would be surprised if there is a player alive that can take more contact and still control the puck. If he went down every time he was touched as you state he would have 1/3 of the points he does.

- canadianpenfan

No one said he doesn't get touched. More often than not Crosby is always crying to the ref when he is touched.

Does this rivalry (Flyers/Pens) surpass the Avs and Red Wings of the late 90's? I say yes.
- hockeylover

It was kinda losing some lust last year and the beginning of this year but I think the fire has been lit again. I wouldn't say it is up to that level just yet. Possibly after the 1st round it will be higher then ever.

I think it's more like it was stupid to have Danny B out there following the crosscheck to Crosby. It was obvious retributions would have been given out.

Not only that but its hard for Lavi to take his guys off the ice when the Home team has last change. Don't think he was expecting the 4th line out there when they didnt play for over 12mins.

For the rivalry to be spoken about in that type of magnitude. The Flyers at least need to beat the Pens in a playoff series. If the Pens fans want to make comparisons like that their welcome to.

Mostly making a point that Flyers fans on this board have labelled the Penguins players, organization, and fans as whiners and complainers. My point is simply that you are no better than us in this regard.

Don't you start attempting to argue by employing your silly logic here! It has no basis to 98% of the folks on this board. You and I can both polite about it, but we know most on this board hold the following as sacred truths: (The following must be read while humming God Bless America or playing the Kate Smith recording in the background)
1. Crosby is an embellisher/whiner/diver
2. Malkin and Crosby are D-I-R-T-Y, DIRTY...bad bad boys.
3. Nothing that those of us who have been following hockey since the 70's saw the Flyers organization do in their previous incarnations is relevant today under the lilly white Laviolette regime.
4. None of us could have possibly been around to watch the Broad Street Bullies era because none of us started watching hockey until 2006.
5. The refs, Gary Bettman, Mike Emrick, Superman, Hulk Hogan, and the Secret service all secretly conspire to favor the Penguins and Crosby at every turn. The Flyers suffer indignity after indignity at the hands of this insidious conspiracy, and must be stopped in the name of truth, justice, and the American way

I'm sorry, I thought the Penguins had 4 lines like every other hockey team? Who knew changes have to go from 1st to 4th like that...

Work on your argument a bit more.

I think you posted this last week on the Rangers board and then the week before on the Islanders board.
Move on...your homerism is getting in the way of logic.

Wait...at least the Flyers fan base stuck it out when their team sucked. Okay is that better?

Why does anyone need to provide an excuse? That's what I don't understand...

Yes. Bylsma put Asham and Engo out to send a message.
Yes. It was predmeditated.
No. The Flyers didn't have to respond.
No. This probably doesn't happen if they're not gearing up for a playoff series in a week.

THESE TEAMS DO NOT LIKE EACH OTHER.

Sending messages for future encounters are as old as the game itself. If it wasn't for message boards and society becoming increasingly pussified this wouldn't even be a topic. This is what hockey is all about, how can people not enjoy this? Nobody got cheapshotted or hurt, let them play.
