I do.
Thorasen: 5'11"...24 points in 106 games.
Jones: 6'0"...got 25 points with the Oil last year...30+ this year
Eager: 6'2"...good for 15ish points a year...big physical player.
What does Thorasen bring that Eager/Jones dont?
there is a reason that he is not in the NHL...small, not physical, not overly skilled. - OilHorse
Two-way play, relatively more skill, smarts, and a fair amount of grit for a small player. I'm just saying you shouldn't load up on one-way contracts for your fourth line, and because jones and Eager are already there. Then you're making it seem like those two are so much better, when it's not all about being "big and tough." |

More skill...he never showed that...not with the oil not with the flyers...and Jones has shown that he can out score Thorasen in less games. Eager can gert almost as many point in 1 season that Thorasen got in his career.
Smarts...yeah that is quite a bit subjective...I don't agree with that statement.
Grit...not as much as jones or eager...both those players are good skaters and much bigger and more physical
you are talking about one way contracts and the lower lines as if Thorasen would be a better player there than them.
Two Way Play...Jones is one of the team's better PKers...
I see jones play up and down the lines with the 3rd line being his natural fit. EAger can play 4th and 3rd lines and they fit his play also.
Where does Thorasen play? Top 2 line...not enough skill, or not more than who he may replace. 3rd, 4th. these are lines that we need bigger guys...a need that is up and down all the lines on this team.
If Thorasen wants a 1 way contract and no team will give him one, gotta wonder if there is a reason.
So while it is not "All about being Big and Tough" Jones and Eager have the skill that is at the very least equally, though I would say that they are more, skilled. At the same time they are Big and Tough. Better packages as players than Thorasen. Pure and Simple. |

The Goalie Guild @TheGoalieGuild Close
In Sept, I was interviewed by @ThomasDrance to project Schneider, Dubnyk, Reimer upside. I ranked them in that order:

He sure can be. I expect him to be starter next year. RT @thaprofessa40: do you think dubnyk is a long term solution as a #1 in edmonton? |

In regards to Thoresen, we should avoid those types of players on our bottom 6. Look at how the Liam Reddox experiment turned out. |

|
And this game is just getting embarrassing. Getting outplayed and badly out hit right now.
Any quality 3rd/4th liners that can run around and hit going to FA this year? |

Clouts. You havent been getting the blog hits as much as when you were a huge hater. What happened to the good ol' days of " Canucks are the dirtiest team in the NHL"
Those were the best |

He was incredibly strong it was frustrating... If not for him that's probably a 5-0 game, having him as your #1 next year will probably jump you to 10th at minimum alone. |

Not now. Last year Renney called Khabby his starter. This year he has said Dubey has moved into the spot.
50-60 games next year for Dubey. |

Boy do they miss Hall, Petry and Smid.
Great job keeping Smytty with Ebs and Nuge all game. Worked out great. |

Worst part was watching Renney's post game afterwards. I was expecting to go off on his team in some fashion, not blow up but definitely call them out. But he just sits there saying "we did our best." |

What do you honestly expect?
Going into a back to back game against a team fighting for their playoff life with a defense as good as the Oil kIngs. |

Why do we always fall on the injury excuse every year??? Other teams have injuries as well but still win... I am not referring to the recent few games but overall the last 3 seasons... Its a factor yes but sometimes you have to blame coaching as well as player engagement... |

If Renney is offered more than a 1 year contract I will be seriously surprised if he is extended at all... |

Thorsen is a been there done that... He has (frank) all to offer this already small team... this should be common knowledge... |

It is when you are Patrick Thorsen... and when you have lines with Smyth and Horcoff as your big hitters outside of Eager and Jones... |

Thoreson was useless for this team. Too small, not enough skill to compensate etc.
Nothing more than a minute killer. Never added anything of real value.
Comparing him to jones and/or eager is laughable.
What those 2 bring is at least tangible and they are both far more valuable players then patrick ever was.
Anyone who says different, are probably the same people who think omark still gonna be an impact player for us if hes just given a 'chance'
We've already had this guy and seen that he couldnt offer anything! Why are we even having this discussion? |

I thought you were talking about last night in particular. If you mean the past few years then I agree, although I've said all along that he doesn't really matter because we didn't have the team to go anywhere anyway. Next year the team needs to show results and if Hall, Hemsky and Whitney miss 60 games each, that's too bad for ST as he needs some sort of fall back plan. |

I sure hope hes not extended at all. His mild mannered wussy brand of coaching needs to go. Ive been saying all year we need some emotion behind the bench instead of someone that stands there chewing gum |
