Nuge would make a sick linebacker.

Pretty impressive catch though. Hordichuk's comments always reminds me of Gerry Dee.

Why is the league not looking at the Ryan hit to the head on Potter? If that were Potter hitting Ryan i'm sure Shanahan would be handing out a 2 or 3 game ban. Its like the hit from behind on Smid in the L.A.game, if Smid does that hit he gets a major plus a game and a hearing with Shanahan. The refs must have a mandate from Buttman to screw over certain teams the Oilers being one of them. A couple of games ago Eberle gets slashed across the wrist on a breakaway,no call, the oilers do that its a penalty shot.Richard it's time to write a blog on the obvious bias of the NHL refs.

Sounds like Potter is out now to.It's open season on the oilers, with no fear of the refs calling any penalty other than if the oilers stand up for themselves, and then the oilers are the only one being called.Last night being a good example, the ducks get 5 powerplays the Oilers get 0 powerplays.

Renny needs to grow a set of balls and call the refs out. Take the 10k fine and bring the whole situation out in the spotlight. Or maybe do what some of the other teams are likely doing,Slips cheque under refs door.

Career ending injuries to both Eberle and RNH tonight... Oilers receive penalties on both plays, for delay of game.

Agreed. Hopefully Katz would pay the fine -- Given the whole Eager thing, I doubt he would though.

I don't know much about Thoresen... This is just off the top of my head... Forgive me for not knowing a lot.

Thoresen started his career with his hometown Storhamar Dragons before he shifted to Canada and played junior hockey for two teams in the QMJHL; the Moncton Wildcats, and the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. In the 2002–03 season, while a member of the Drakkar, he had 108 points in 71 games played, good enough for second in team scoring. His 75 assists that season were best in the QMJHL. This was a vast improvement from his first year of junior in which he compiled 73 points in 60 games played.

His first year of pro hockey in the Elitserien was a learning year for him in which most of his time was spent with the Division 2 team, Mörrums GoIS IK. He worked hard down there and put up 41 points in 38 games and eventually found himself back among the Swedish elite. He then spent the next two years playing for Djurgården full time, playing a total of 80 games and collecting 53 points, 27 of them being goals.

On May 31, 2006, Thoresen signed a contract with the Oilers as a free agent. He was somewhat of a major surprise in training camp before the 2006–07 season, and played well enough for Oilers coach Craig MacTavish to publicly state that he had earned a spot on the roster.

Thoresen became only the fifth player from Norway to play a game in the NHL, the others being Bjørn Skaare, Anders Myrvold, Espen Knutsen, and Ole-Kristian Tollefsen. In fact Thoresen was the first Norwegian NHL'er not previously drafted.

Thoresen scored his first NHL goal on October 12, 2006 against the San Jose Sharks (Evgeni Nabokov). He tallied four goals (including two game winners) and notched 12 assists in 68 games during his rookie campaign. He was a -1, among the best of the Oilers regulars that season.

On February 22, 2008, Thoresen was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Flyers.

On April 11, 2008, Thoresen was hit in the groin by a Mike Green slapshot during a playoff game against the Capitals. Thoresen was taken off the ice and driven to a local hospital. He returned to action later in the playoffs, after becoming the first Norwegian born player to take part in NHL postseason play.

On July 14, 2008, Thoresen signed a one-year contract with HC Lugano of the Swiss League. He finished the season totaling 63 points in 48 games, good for third overall in the NLA.

On May 21, 2009, Thoresen signed a two-year contract with Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the Kontinental Hockey League. He finished the regular season with 57 points in 56 games, sixth overall in the entire KHL. He also lead all players in the plus/minus category with +45 (the previous season best was Alexei Tereshchenko with +41). He scored seven game winning goals (2nd overall), including four consecutive game-winning goals to end the regular season.

During the offseason of 2010 he opted out of his current contract with Salavat Yulaev, seeking a new NHL contract but after failing to do so, he decided to stay with Salavat for another season. Thoresen ended the 2010/11 KHL regular season as second overall in point scoring (65), second in goals scored (29) and third in assists (36). During the playoffs he amassed a total of 18 points en route to winning the Gagarin Cup, as the first Norwegian ever. His three goals and fifteen assists was tied with Alexander Radulov for the team lead in points and fourth overall in the KHL.

Thoresen is a two-time nominee for the Norwegian team sports athlete of the year award (Idrettsgallaen - 2009 and 2010).

I do.

Thorasen: 5'11"...24 points in 106 games.

Jones: 6'0"...got 25 points with the Oil last year...30+ this year

Eager: 6'2"...good for 15ish points a year...big physical player.

What does Thorasen bring that Eager/Jones dont?

there is a reason that he is not in the NHL...small, not physical, not overly skilled.

Again... Just off the top of my head, so forgive me if 2% of this isn't 100% correct.

Ole-Kristian Tollefsen started his ice hockey career playing for Nes IK's youth teams, after one of his friends had talked him into it. He played for teams in the club until he turned 16, when he moved to Lillehammer, to attend the Norwegian College of Elite Sport. In Lillehammer, he is known as "Læfsa". Tollefsen played with Lillehammer Ishockeyklubb for two seasons, spending most of that time on the senior team, instead of any of the club's two junior teams where a player his age should have spent that stage of their career. During the 2001–02 season, he was a regular in the team's starting lineup as they reached fourth place in the Norwegian Elite League, and reached the playoff semi-finals for a bronze medal. He also played for both the junior teams in their playoffs, getting a silver medal with the Elder Junior (Under-20) team, and the gold medal with the Younger Junior (U-18) team. The medals were the last thing he accomplished in the Norwegian league system thus far in his career.

After that impressive season, Tollefsen was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the third round, 65th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, something that made him one of the highest-drafted Norwegians ever (incidentally, the highest-drafted Norwegian ever, Dallas Stars prospect Marius Holtet, went in the second round, as the 42nd overall pick in the same draft).

The next stop for Tollefsen was the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he played the next two seasons for the Brandon Wheat Kings. During his time in the WHL, he showed that he could adapt to the North American style of play. His physical style of play showed on the 2003–04 Blue Jackets training camp, when one of his hits put star player Geoff Sanderson out of play for a couple of weeks with an injury.

During the 2004–05 NHL lockout season, Tollefsen had signed for the Blue Jackets, but spent most of the season with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL), but also had a short trip to the East Coast Hockey League where he played for the Dayton Bombers.

For the 2005–06 season he started the season in the AHL, but on November 23, he got his NHL debut in a 4–2 loss against the Phoenix Coyotes. He played an additional four games for the Blue Jackets, with two penalty minutes, before he was sent down to Syracuse again, where he spent the rest of the season.

He played in 70 of the Blue Jackets' games in the 2006–07 season. On November 10, he, and fellow Norwegian NHL player Patrick Thoresen played in the first NHL game ever to have two Norwegian players facing each other, when the Blue Jackets hosted Thoresen's Edmonton Oilers. In Ken Hitchcock's debut as the coach for the Blue Jackets, a November 24 away game against the Philadelphia Flyers, Tollefsen had his first career NHL point when he assisted on Jason Chimera's second period goal, he scored his first goal against the Chicago Blackhawks on March 20, 2007. He started a scoring streak when he forced overtime against Detroit Red Wings in the next game, tying Espen Knutsen's Norwegian NHL record. He accumulated 123 penalty minutes during the season, including fights against Mark Smith, Joffrey Lupul, Jordin Tootoo, and Bill Guerin.

On July 30, 2009, Tollefsen signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.

On February 6, 2010, Tollefsen, along with a 5th round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, was traded to the Detroit Red Wings for Finnish forward Ville Leino.

Tollefsen played in three matches for Norway during the 2010 Winter Olympics, with no points. He received a 25-minute penalty after checking Slovakia’s Ľuboš Bartečko in the head during the quarterfinal play-in game on February 23, 2010.
