I guess despite all the complaining I am pleased with the season. We have improved by at least 11 points over last season. If we get two points in the last three games we are 13 points better, with 75 points.

Next season will be huge, if we continue progressing at the same rate we could be at almost 90 points at the end of next season, which would put us on the brink of playoffs.

You couldn't know less about hockey if grew up in Cuba!

No reason to play RNH big minutes against Getzlaf. Is your idea to get him killed? He is still only 18!

How do you know who Edm is high on in the draft? You haven't shown to have any connections to Edm management in the past.

RNH deserves the Calder over Landeskog cause he is a pivot and plays on the first line. Landeskog has Matt Deushene to take pressure off of him and a much better defense core than RNH.

- westcory

Not to mention Horcoff Belanger Jones and Smyth all had pk time. I still don't agree with the minute distribution but 5 on 5 was pretty even for the top 6

you play the nuge against the top line so that you can actually trade chances with them instead of being peppered all night with a thrown together checking line.

Most people know who they will pick because scouts don't make mistakes anymore, especially with regards to the top 5,so you can easily say that the oilers will probably only be seriously looking at 5 guys or so.

Landi will win, he's got all the MSM support and RNH will need to outscore landeskog at least in these few games to get a little more support

Why do you think the oilers should blow games for a better pick? Let the team play for pride, it's about time the scouts have to do some serious homework for the first round pick. The way the season is ending is pretty much where the oilers should be in the rebuild process. Biggest story this year is Ebs followed by the Nuge. The future looks really good for this team.

You are probably right. To me the PPG average is just as impressive as Landeskogs plus minus. The injuries will hurt the Nuge in voting as well. Can't wait to see what he brings next year.

I'm sure landeskog will win just because he's played the whole year and his overall game has had a much bigger impact over more games. Kinda funny though, i bet the nuge wins rookie of the month for march tomorrow, has anyone heard of a guy winning 3 of the 6.5 rookie of the months and not won the calder?

Both of them have had impressive seasons, and really it is not a bad choice to pick either player. But when you drop them side by side and see which one has been the most proficient overall Landeskog wins.

"to the player selected as the most proficient "
- Calder Trophy

His defensive play is as solid as his offensive play.

that said I would love to see Nuge just lay the beats in teh final 3 games to take a large lead in scoring. then make it a shoe in win for the calder.

I agree, nothing wrong with the kids going out with some wins. CBJ is Yakupov, MTL is Grigs/Galchenyuk, Edm still gets their man in Murray who I think they should take over Grigs anyway. Doubtful they go any higher as TOR, NYI, and ANA need to lose all 3 games left while the Oilers need to win all 3. Leafs are the only team of those 3 I could see doing that and they're taking whomever MTL doesn't between Grigs and Galchenyuk. It's pretty win win with them winning

Maybe the Oilers can finish #2 in the draft and trade down to #3 or #4 plus that teams 2nd round pick? If that doesn't happen, what the hell are we going to have to chat about for the next 6 months!

The TO media is big, but not big enough to get a non-consensus guy in there.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Toronto has a huge following, but It's nice that some non Toronto fans can see past the fictional ideal that Toronto media runs this league, and not take shots toward us like some bloggers do on a daily basis.

If we get that offer then I'd take it and run. Those two early 2nd rouneers could get us back into the first round.

Screw that. If the Oil wants to "let us win by a field goal", I don't think you'll find anyone in LA complaining.

I think the oil might beat the Kings...I figured before the game on Fri that the oil would split the Kings and Ducks games. So they win vs. the Kings and lose at home to the Ducks. Then I think they beat a Canucks team that is resting for the playoffs, a game I will be at. Can't wait, gonna be fun.

Could be. Your boys have matched up really well with us so far this year. I'm just praying we show up hungrier though.

I know you don't pay much attention to the goingson in Montreal, Richard, but it has been suggested that Montreal have rarely even considered Grigorenko this year. Timmins and his scouting stuff have been very high on Galchenyuk all season long, even with his injury.

And Roy factor? He hasn't even been hired yet. No reason to suggest Montreal's selection on a hiring that hasn't even been completed yet, if ever.

I know you're a blogger, but man, cite some of your material sometimes; no need to ALWAYS write off of lofty ideas and assumptions.

x2. Even if the coach hated him, you'd think the GM would force the coaches hands and make him play Omark. Fact is Omark just isn't that good.

Its not that omark is a bad player it's just that he's a redundant player with the likes of hemsky, gagner and eberle all similar players

Redundant or not, if he had value they'd at the very least be playing him to boost his value for a trade.

Personally I see it more about his attitude. Too many demands and hardline stances about what he wants.

I doubt that omark ever turns into someone like martin st.louis, i bet the oilers trade him for a pick at the draft, and he gets 45 points next year for that team
