I think if Parise is to come to New York, Dubinsky would be traded. Also I am not sure if McIlrath will be ready to step right in.

i doubt miller will make the team. Would be kinda pointless for torts to play him 8 minutes a night when he could be rounding out his game in the AHL/CHL

Reddens 6.5 is in the AHL anyway. It's impact on the cap is felt only in the summer and this summer the current CBA will still be in effect (doesn't expire until September). GMs have been advised to act with the expectation that the status quo will prevail. So no assumptions can be made contrary to that in this offseason.

i always get mixed up with the cap rules in summer/season.so in that case if parise were to sign in new york duby would be a goner.or the nash sweepstakes open up for them again

It will be curious if the new CBA, enacted in September (we hope), forbids teams from sending cap space to the minors. Obviously the player can still be demoted but what if the new CBA calls for half of the demoted players cap hit to count against cap? That's why Redden is still such a popular mention when the amnesty clause pops up.

It will be weird because teams can operate under existing rules during the summer but have to assume some changes will be made in new CBA. So what to do? Do you spend to the cap and hope NHL allows for some way to get back in compliance? Do you save room in case they lower tha cap? Do you buy a player out or wait with the hope there is an amnesty clause? Tough calls will be made this summer.

No way can they say "act normally" and then say oh opps you spent to the cap and expected to dump salary in the AHL as that was normal? Tough poop make it work. It's just not gonna fly. They will give teams a way to make a seamless transition into the new rules.

I hate the Flyers and the Pens because I'm a Rangers fan, but I respect what Schenn did to Crosby. Crosby is the biggest crybaby who complains about everything and has pulled some dirty plays (slashes, sloot foots, etc.) in the past without getting called because he's the golden boy of the NHL. The Flyers have been tough and physical for years, so I have no problem with them. The Penguins complain to the refs all the time and get every call led by the two biggest pussies Mario Lemieux (owner now, wussy when he played and great talent) and Crosbaby. I'd love to see the Flyers kick the poop out of the Pens in the quarters and hopefully maybe someone like Hartnell, Simmonds, or Rinaldo will drill Crosby with an open ice hit to prove to the NHL that you can actually hit the guy. I think the Rangers will get past either of these teams anyway, but I do hope the Flyers dominate the Pens come next week.

Sup dudes, I met Jack Capuano today. But for the fact that he coaches the islanders, he's a really cool guy. We shot the poop about fishing, he told me he was buying lures for josh bailey.

I told him I was a ranger fan and thanked him for beating the pens

Really cool he gave me the time of day even though Im a ranger fan.

Capuano is an avid fishermen, from what I gathered he was trying to show bailey some new tecneques for him to bring back to Canada.

saw a few posts about schultz being difficult to get.

he'll be a UFA and can only be signed to a maximum cap hit of about ~900k. it's not really a question of whether we can offer him the best contract; it's all about where he wants to go. and new york city can be a very attractive destination for a young professional athlete.

Nice story. Capuano def seems like a good guy, caught in the usual muck that goes on over there. I saw that Wang had a nice staged Q & A with the Isles season ticket holders the other day. It is sad but with his lack of doing anything with changes in personnel & anything resembling status quo with the arena situation they are looking down the barrel of relocating in 3 yrs when their lease expires.

Tonight could go one of two ways. It could be a real sweet night to celebrate both clinching 1st in the East & sweeping the Flyers, or if we lose in regulation & Pitt wins the panic will begin to set in. Flyers have hOme ice to Play for still & the motivation to not get swept by the Rangers going for them, I sense another real physical playoff type gm out there tonight. Lets do it!

Unless former alums, Stepan and McDonagh, can convince this kid to sign in NY, I don't see it happening.

Too much depth on the blueline in the organization. Only way Sather entertains this is if he has a trade, involving a current defender for additional scoring, on the horizon.

As of now it seems unlikely; Sauer's longterm health is definitely a cause for concern though.

Maybe it's as bas as we feared, his concussion issue.

Wisconsin does breed quality defensemen though...we'll see I suppose.

Michael Sauer might as well be a ghost at this point, they have kept that so quiet, very concerning. He may never come back.

Or both the Pens and Rangers lose, in that case the Rangers clinch anyway.

I would much rather see the Rangers clinch on their own merit and not have to rely on another team helping them out.

Flyers will be tough, but they are going to be without two players who have been playing well as of late, in Briere and Grossmann.

Bobrovsky in net doesn't seem to overwhelming either.

It's unfortunate because I felt Sauer was the most steady defender they had, down the stretch last season.

Erixon will be here next year, from start to finish. The key is they believe in Bickel, or Stralman to round out the top six next season. The top four looks sets for the next five or six seasons; the bottom pair is the unknown.

Hank is & will continue to be the reason the Rangers are better than the Flyers, its that simple. Now the Flyers are due against us much like Boston was, so if they get the better of us once out of 6 x this year it won't shock me, especially if they carry the momentum & anger they had from the Pens game. Its just the wrong time of year for us to start a losing streak, with both the playoffs & the 1 seed so close.

I swear if you take Crosby's face and just squish it, it turns it into Malkin's face
