I don't comment unless fans take uninformed shots at the Rangers. If they make good points when criticizing NY, which they really ever do, I never comment. But when they run their mouths and have their facts wrong, I merely point out they are wrong and why.

I think we'd do the same thing on the Flyers blog if it didn't mean getting banned within 5 minutes.

true, they should make the Flyers blog completely in black and white, no color, because that's the only footage we ever see of North Korea. Black and white. and EVIL.

I'm loving how Pens and Flyer fans think they are the teams to beat in the east. Toatally discounting the Rangers. Have I missed something? Are the Rangers really that bad?
- DONMURDOCH14

Let the Rangers fly under the radar, prefer it that way.

Penguins fans are that arrogant and Flyers fans are that ignorant to think their teams are the best in the conference.

I was always taught that the team with the most points is the best.

I prefer science rather than convaluted opinion

After the Pens-Flyers series we won't have to hear from the Fems until October when they read that their women will be skating soon.

im not discounting the rangers, but cmon MM, you are smarter than this. you really think a few more wins gathered in Oct/Nov really tell the story about the teams as they enter the playoffs?

teams evolve so much over the course of the year (thru injuries, trades, players getting hot, chemistry, etc)

end of the year point totals dont mean much, especially in the NHL. its about how a team is playing entering the postseason... and i believe you know that.

Jimbo, i was just reading up on Justin Schultz. First, do you think it's a good idea for the rangers to go after him? Lastly, if signed what do you think it means for the likes of Bickel, Sauer and the rest of the prospects on D?

It is all a matter of opinion and it all depends on who is asked.

The Flyers and Penguins are definitely among the favorites; to discount NY or Boston is tomfoolery though.

To even disregard New Jersey is shortsighted too.

Seedings and the subsequent matchups are crucial towards a cup run for any contender.

Rangers getting the top seed is going to really help their cause in the postseason.

No matter which team survives that Flyers-Penguins melee, that team will be at a serious disadvantage going forward.

no doubt. but who's to say a Rangers/Caps series might not turn out to be the most brutal of the first round?

just cause they arent a bigtime rivalry doesnt mean things cant get nasty

I think it's a fantastic idea to go after him.

Another great asset to add to the mix, would give them more depth if they were to make some trades this summer, and also probably give Sather more "leverage" in his contract negotiations with Del Zotto this summer.

We have seen what Univ. of Wisconsin produces, no brainer to go after him.

The question is, would Schultz want to sign here? Obviously there isn't a whole lot of room here on the blueline, especially with Erixon and then Mcilrath eventually.

It would be like getting another first round pick if we got him though.

I don't think Bickel is here for the long haul, but you never know, Torts seems to like him.

i mean if sather can sign Schultz the d core would almost to crowded, especially if Sauer can return to health next year.

Mcd-Girardi
Staal-DZ
Sauer-Erixon
Bickel-Stralman
Schultz-McIlrath

that would be some insane depth.

i was just reading a little more about him and it's believed that he'll be the 3rd most sought after UFA this summer after Parise and Suter.

i tend to think we won't be in the running for him. I think people may be overrating the Stepan & McDonagh factor in getting him to come here. i definitely hope I am wrong though.

He is a right handed shot...

Having him McIlrath and Girardi on the right side would be pimp.

Someone on the left has to be the odd man out
