Even if it's not a hockey team it's terrible. If I ever go to Russia I'm renting a car.

Absolutely. Condolences to the victims' families and friends in this time of tragedy.

The HBO real sports feature on the Lokomotiv team was heart wrenching. The air travel in Russia is unsafe. Lot of old planes still in service.

Hockey team or not doesn't make it any more or less of a tragedy, human beings have lost their lives. What they do isn't important.

Here's a link from an Australian News station that is reporting that the plane took off with a hole in it's wing. No, I'm not making this up. I wish I was.

I would have liked to have seen that. What are they doing about it? How many crashes in one country before they start taking some of these planes out of the sky?

My parents are in the air right now on their way to Barcelona. Just makes you think when you see horrible stuff like that.

^^^

Did you read that? Passengers complaining about a hole in the wing and running for the exits and they still take off? That's unacceptable.

Yup. I read it. Seems as if they don't value life in Russia as much as they should.

This has lawsuits along the lines of the Italian cruise ship written all over it. Unfortunately the airline company is probably worth next to nothing.

edit- actually not what i had in mind. They have well over 100 planes. But surprisingly only 3 of the one that crashed, two now.

I was just thinking about this on my way home after having dinner with my Dad. Hartnell and Simmonds do make JvR expendable. We don't have very many highly drafted, top talents on D in the system. A JvR for Luke Schenn trade makes more sense then ever right now. On the other hand, JvR can play any game that's ask of him. He has a nice shot, a nice pass and can play in front of the net and along the boards. JvR has more raw skill then both Simmonds and Hartnell but doesn't get his nose as dirty. We could use a young defenseman like Luke Schenn but I wouldn't make that trade. JvR could still very much turn out to be the better player above Simmonds and Hartnell.

This is an interesting turn of events. Because early in the Season, it was said that Simmonds made Hartnell expendable. There is no such thing as other player playing well, making a player expendable. It doesn't exist.

How great would it be to have JvR running full steam right now, AND Hartnell and Simmonds?

lol @ jvr being "expendable"

i'm sure Hartnell's going to have 35 goals a year until his contract expires

Regardless, this is a team chalk full of grit and two-way players. But not too many pure goal scorers.

I'd rather unload some of that grit to keep JVR, then the other way around.
