you're really going to deny wayne simmonds the praise he deserves? shoulds like you're trying to stir the poop

simmonds is awesome

and that has nothing to do with jvr being injured most of the year so i find that STIRRING

Id give it another year, JVRs been hurt, not that I'd expect JVR to do the gritty stuff Wayne does, he's a bit more finesse and can be more dominant when he gets going. But Simmonds has played himself into a similar contract.
- aosplayo

JVR was on his way to a 25-30 goal year before injuries hijacked his season. Why sell low on him coming off an injury plagued campaign? Next year is a huge season in his development, I expect big things from JVR next season.

Do the flyers trade JVR this off season?
- moonwasaloonl

I was just thinking about this on my way home after having dinner with my Dad. Hartnell and Simmonds do make JvR expendable. We don't have very many highly drafted, top talents on D in the system. A JvR for Luke Schenn trade makes more sense then ever right now. On the other hand, JvR can play any game that's ask of him. He has a nice shot, a nice pass and can play in front of the net and along the boards. JvR has more raw skill then both Simmonds and Hartnell but doesn't get his nose as dirty. We could use a young defenseman like Luke Schenn but I wouldn't make that trade. JvR could still very much turn out to be the better player above Simmonds and Hartnell.

There are no guarantees Jagr comes back next year because of age and/or health, I don't see JVR going anywhere especially not a stay at home defensemen like Schenn.

You won't be able to get Nash straight up for JVR, not to mention it won't work cap wise without the Flyers doing several other things.

No need for Nash, Flyers don't have trouble scoring goals, it's all about preventing goals.

Yup. Well said. Talbot has been great. Holmgren has done a great job building this team, he really has.
- PLindbergh31

He really has. All of the rookies are contributing and look great, today they injected themselves into this rivalry. If Homer lets them grow together and doesn't make an impulse trade the future is very bright.

Simmonds
Voracek
Schenn
Coots

for Richards and Carter. That is looking better every day for the Flyers.

I see Coots and Malkin having some real nice battles in April.

wayne simmonds is everything JVR should have been this season
- 2Real

wayne is a bad ass. he will tangle with anyone and convincingly win most of the time. jvr will never be that player, which is fine. they don't need him to be. he has stick skills that wayne doesn't have. next year will be jvr's year.

Luke schenn stinks. Grossman is here to stay no need for Luke. Jvr comes back next year.

He took a couple of shots, but hung in there. He's a tough SOB that Simmonds. I thought he would have worn a face shield or visor today.... Nope... Complete throwback.

Flyers have a bunch of guys who are easy to root for.

- PLindbergh31

He did have the visor on today. And he better keep it on too. Didn't he wear one in LA? I don't care poop about the throwback macho image these guys think they need to portray. Pronger is still playing if he had one on. It's completely befuddling how you can stand by and watch Laperriere and Malholtra almost lose an eye and keep playing without one thinking it will never happen to you. Arrogant and stoopid. Every player should have gone to the visor the moment those featherlight spears came into the league.

If the score holds up at MSG, the Rags would have a chance to win the Division, clinch the # 1 seed in the East, and sweep the season series against the Flyers on Tuesday night. That would be a bitter pill to swallow.

not happening.

Yup. That Shero guy has done a hell of a job himself. The Neal trade was brilliant.

Schenn really has struggled this year. I'm not a fan of his, at 22 it's a little early to say he stinks though.

I concur 100%. Is it going to take a player being blinded before visors are mandatory.

I would want to maim, maul, and dismantle things if it does.
