If there's no lower body, there can't be an injury anymore. I like it

Lava's acting a bit naive, don't you think? One of his players drills Crosby from behind in what was already a chippy game, right in front of the Penguins bench. The outcome of the game is no longer in doubt, and Bylsma deploys his 4th liners. Anyone who has been watching hockey for a reasonable amount of time had to know what was coming. Its happened in countless NHL games over the years, and the Flyers have been the traditional kings what was to come. This was message sending time, and the message is, if you hit one of our skill guys, we'll get one of yours, and Vitale delivered the message via a clean hit on Briere. Everything else that happened after that was just the usual window dressing after a big hit.

Its going to be a fun April around here.

I actually agree with some of that, specifically what you stated about the message being sent. But that practice has long disappeared, some might say unfortunately too. Perhaps a player would think twice about giving a cheap shot to an opposing star player.

I don't agree with the Flyers being "traditional kings", though. No argument that there was a time when that was true, but not for quite a few years now.

It still doesn't sit well, regardless, with the team who gets the payback whack.

That's my biggest concern with the Flyers and Pens meeting.

It's going to be the sports version of the German-Russian front in WW2.

Like Flyers - Leafs in 2004. Stupid seedings. It is unjust that either Philly or Pitt will be home after round one and a team like Florida gets home ice for winning the craptastic Southeast.

Florida's going to play 2, maybe 3 home games. NJ's going to murder them

Certainly good initial news, hopefully Holmgren isn't in Pinocchio mode.

Seriously man? It is almost the playoffs. He is in Pinocchio on 'roids mode.

Don't these other teams have a board where they can whine about losing instead of in here?

Hope Grossmann isn't hurt too bad because we need him in a big way especially if we play those Pensquids! Who knows maybe Bryz comesback and doesn't skip a beat from where he left off.

Exactly.

If he plays in game 1 of the playoffs I would be thrilled.

That doesn't bother me too much.

You have to play whoever is in front of you and you have to beat them in their building at some point.

The Flyers have showed the ability to play well on the road all season. I don't see why it wouldn't carry over in the PO's.

Funny how they aren't as good without Niedermayer, Stevens, Daneyko and company.

What a series this is going to be ...whatever team comes out on top though will be battered and bruised right off the bat ...tough road for both teams

You don't think they'd just rest him to be safe? A bruise can get worse...

It can be a hyperextended knee/bone bruise, both are very painful. Hopefully they are just erring on the side of caution.

an example of why the playoff format is severely flawed.

Didn't he go down with a knee injury before? If so was that the same knee?

No question.

Kyle Turris is going off on Long Island.
