Yeah and if the Flyers did this down 6-3 they would be the Broad Street Bullies Part 2. Thinking anything other than that is naive.

I think it was more about the score than anything else. The fact that Schenn was out there was a bonus for Asham.

I don't buy that. Schenn didn't deliver a hit, he pushed him and he went down like he had been shot. You can send a message without pounding a guy's face who is not even in your league.

Crosby was slashing guys all game, and Schenn pushes him after a goal, so he gets his face pounded. That's ridiculous to me.

Given the troubles Crosby has had over the past couple years, if I'm a Penguin and anyone comes close to the line with the meal ticket, I'm hitting that guy.

I can't be too angry at it, because I know if somebody did the same to Giroux, I'd have no issue with Hartnell or Simmonds doing exactly what Asham did. Hell, I was hoping somebody would do the same to Vitale after the knee to knee.

Malkin plays with a physical edge...I'm sure the Schenn hit had something to do with that too. Its an eye for an eye world out there folks. You guys know that.
- Emperor Filonius

Malkin also has the habit of sticking his leg out when getting near players. He is far to talented to be doing it.

Only thing that bugged me about that was Schenn was already engaged with another player. Asham can always send the message but there wasn't the time.
- ob18

That was my sole issue with it as well.

I understand the eye for an eye thing, but if you push a guy, then you get pushed back, not have a goon go out and punch him in the face.

True, but its nothing we haven't seen from countless players on both teams over the years. I actually was waiting to see Eric Goddard come leaping out of the stands.

I will say it now, when these 2 meet in the 1st round it will take so much out of whatever team wins, they may done after the round with all the energy spent.

Like I said, Malkin was doing worse to Giroux at one point in the game when Roo was down on the ice. It wasn't even called as a penalty and if Rinaldo went after Malkin like Asham went after Schenn, I'm sure we'd never hear the end of it.

I still say the end of the game was more about the score than getting payback for a push.

I'll agree I've seen a lot worse, but considering everything he's gone through in the last year, I think you would understand why they were more than a little annoyed.
- Emperor Filonius

maybe he should stop 2 handing guys on the draw first. if he's going to pull that crap, he needs to deal with anything that comes his way.

That's my biggest concern with the Flyers and Pens meeting.

It's going to be the sports version of the German-Russian front in WW2.

Malkin is clearly the dirtiest player in the league now that Matt Cooke has cooled his jets somewhat...

I would have loved to see Rinaldo go after Malkin for it...of course, Malkin is in a class of player a bit more recognized than Schenn is....

As for not hearing the end of it...meh. The Pens sent a message at the end. The Flyers have done similar stuff. So has every team. It happens.

Certainly good initial news, hopefully Holmgren isn't in Pinocchio mode.
