Since he's been here, I think he's been their best d-man. Can't afford him being out for the playoffs.
- PLindbergh31

yeh and Kubina is struggling with the puck now, some costly turnovers the last two games.

Carle and Coburn are going to have to play 25+ minutes a game if Grossmann is out

you guys of all teams know what its like to have players out

I'm just hoping every one is healthy from both sides for rd one, but it looks doubtful

Lava's acting a bit naive, don't you think? One of his players drills Crosby from behind in what was already a chippy game, right in front of the Penguins bench. The outcome of the game is no longer in doubt, and Bylsma deploys his 4th liners. Anyone who has been watching hockey for a reasonable amount of time had to know what was coming. Its happened in countless NHL games over the years, and the Flyers have been the traditional kings what was to come. This was message sending time, and the message is, if you hit one of our skill guys, we'll get one of yours, and Vitale delivered the message via a clean hit on Briere. Everything else that happened after that was just the usual window dressing after a big hit.

Its going to be a fun April around here.

- Emperor Filonius

At 6-3, the outcome of the game is decided. Laviolette has to figure the Penguins are going to put Asham, Engelland, Vitale, and Company on the ice at that point. He can't be that naive.

If Grossmann is out, I'd consider it a miracle to get out of the first round....

I agree that Laviolette overreacted. I would have buried any skill guys I had and gone with grinders and whatnot, myself. I was just commenting on why he was upset, not really justifying it.

With all that happened, of course a message was going to be sent.

Asham was an idiot for pounding Schenn. That's what upset me, I dunno about Lava.

Thanks. We both know about key guys getting hurt. Going to be waiting with baited breath to hear a report on him.

I'm gonna be positively optimistic for once, and say Grossmann will be ok.

Crosby had a pretty good slash on Giroux and Malkin got his shots in too, Schenn's bump to Crosby's back was in response to that.

I have no problem with the Pens 4th line out there at the end.

if the situation was reversed in a game that wasn't winnable, I would love to see Rinaldo hit a Pen with a good open ice hit there.

I'll agree I've seen a lot worse, but considering everything he's gone through in the last year, I think you would understand why they were more than a little annoyed.

But that's Asham's job. Schenn delivered a hit to Crosby, Asham's got to send a message. If a guy did that to Clarke back in the day, he'd have Schultz, Saleski and Kelly beating the snot out of him.

Great. They'll be getting out a hacksaw for the surgery.

I don't buy that. Schenn didn't deliver a hit, he pushed him and he went down like he had been shot. You can send a message without pounding a guy's face who is not even in your league.

Crosby was slashing guys all game, and Schenn pushes him after a goal, so he gets his face pounded. That's ridiculous to me.

LBI will be all we hear unless its certain he is done.

If its an ACL, he's done and then needs surgery.

If MCL or other ligament we will never get the details until the season is over.

They'll call it out 2-3 weeks for a ligament sprain, or day to day if just a bruise.

I saw Malkin doing worse to Giroux while Giroux was on the ice and there wasn't an uproar about that.

You can not like it, but you don't have to pound the guy's face in. I'll give Assham the fact that it was the one highlight of his game today, though.

That didn't bother me at all, Crosby gets away with his fair amount of stuff a little that isn't a big deal.

But now Schenn is a marked man for Saturday.

Yeah and if the Flyers did this down 6-3 they would be the Broad Street Bullies Part 2. Thinking anything other than that is naive.

Precisely. I'm sure Schenn knew it was coming too. He's a big boy and can certainly handle himself. If the situation were reversed and Kunitz had hit Giroux in the same fashion, the same thing would have happened. Good stuff.

Only thing that bugged me about that was Schenn was already engaged with another player. Asham can always send the message but there wasn't the time.

Malkin plays with a physical edge...I'm sure the Schenn hit had something to do with that too. Its an eye for an eye world out there folks. You guys know that.

the pens were initiating that all day and got away with a ton. the "shove" on crosby was probably the only retaliation. they had it coming to them anyway. pure bush move at the end.
