pretty close to the game of the year today
I'll be happy if we beat the rags this week and I couldn't care less about home ice advantage because there is none when it comes to PIT. |

snider would drive to ny personally and hand bettmann his cash for how lava handled himself today. - hammarby31
No doubt about it. I'm sure he loved the way Laviolette handled himself today. |

Completely agree on all points. - Hextall271

which is exactly why they should win one more for mr snider before he exits to a higher plane. |

good. i demand payback. jagr and talbot helping out will only make it sweeter. - hammarby31
I think the Penguins are super talented, and can easily win the Cup, but I do think they lack grit. I think Talbot was one of the most important players for them. In the room, and leading on the ice. Not to mention he can play a bit too. |

man u hate him
just to play devs advo, i find that most announcers tend to play up chances from the team that is down in order to maintain the excitement and keep the audience interested by making it seem like a comeback is in the works.
i just never thought of emrick as anti-flyers i guess - Crimsoninja
Emrick worked for the Flyers for a long time.
Emrick wore several hats in the 1980s working for the Philadelphia Flyers while their voice from 1988 to 1993. He was a spot announcer for Flyers home broadcasts from 1983-86, then was an in-studio analyst between 1986-88 when not covering national games. Emrick was promoted to the lead play-by-play slot for both local TV and cable for the team in 1988, remaining with the Flyers until the end of the 1992-93 season. For four of those years, Emrick was paired with former NHLer and national hockey broadcaster Bill Clement.
Hard to believe he's too anti-Flyer. I just think he overdoes everything. Seems to treat every game like it's some sort of vocabulary contest. It's almost like he thinks his commentary is more important than the game.
I could do without all the "knifed ahead", "wedged off", and all the needless hyperbole ("A driiiiiiiive, and oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh it juuuuuuust missed.") Just call the damn game and shut up if there's nothing to say. |

they have weapons in all areas of the game, and could very well win the cup. wouldn't be a surprise. i agree about the grit. cooke has toned his game way down. didn't even notice him today. they're dirty. that's different than grit.
pens fans were thrilled to dump max. he's got 18 or 19 goals on the season. career high. he battles every game. terrific acquisition. |

Yup. Well said. Talbot has been great. Holmgren has done a great job building this team, he really has. |

Hmmm...maybe he does like the Pens better:
Emrick taught speech and broadcasting at Geneva College in the Pittsburgh suburb of Beaver Falls from 1969-71 and got his first experience of the NHL covering the Pittsburgh Penguins as an unpaid correspondent for the Beaver County Times newspaper.
Also, that had to be a blast having to ID yourself as being from the "Beaver Times" paper.

Id give it another year, JVRs been hurt, not that I'd expect JVR to do the gritty stuff Wayne does, he's a bit more finesse and can be more dominant when he gets going. But Simmonds has played himself into a similar contract. |

If the score holds up at MSG, the Rags would have a chance to win the Division, clinch the # 1 seed in the East, and sweep the season series against the Flyers on Tuesday night. That would be a bitter pill to swallow. |

i'd expect JVR to play like the powerforward he's supposed to be and not be injured all the time |
