How bout Simmonds throwing hands with Engelland a day after getting his face mangled by a puck.
This Simmonds is a fan favorite, and rightfully so. He's the perfect Flyer. - PLindbergh31
Simmonds is a beast I agree.. I remember thinking he was a solid winger in LA, but I didn't realize he was this good. The part I like about this team is the heart and drive they show. Never give up, and fight despite all odds. It's an element they lacked last year. VERY proud of my team.

That was a tremendous road victory for Philadelphia. Bobrovsky is just brimming with confidence and keeps making those momentum swinging saves. Hopefully Grossmann isn't too banged up. Losing him for any long stretch is a HUGE loss. I thought 4 Flyer rookies played really great today: Bourdon, Courturier, Schenn and Wellwood. Good to see Giroux get off the snide a bit as well. Coburn played a strong game as well.

I was thinking yesterday that there isn't a guy on this team that plays like it is just a paycheck. There's passion in each of them for the game. Tney may not always direct the passion in the right way. And they may have an unnervingly bad habit of oversleeping on daygames, but they're all guys who just seem to love to compete.
Malkin is one of the dirtiest players. Just finished watching the game he loves to punch people behind the play and never gets called on it. Finally even the guys calling the game mention how Crosby gets away with two slashes and there is no call. Nice to see Lava getting so pissed at the cry baby pens putting the 4th line out there.
The league wants to suck off the pens, but they better go after asham. It's time for the league to realize how dirty the pens are.
Grossman has a history of knee problems...hope he's ok. That's a big loss.
While all hockey players crave the opportunity to be in the thick of the action during the stretch drive and postseason, it has a little extra meaning to Grossmann this season. One season ago, amidst a rock-solid campaign for Dallas, the big defenseman was just coming off a hip-injury when he suffered a sprained MCL in a March 19 game against the Flyers.
As it turned out, the injury would keep him out of the rest of the regular season despite intensive rehabilitation efforts. The Stars ended up missing the Western Conference playoffs (with a record-tying 95 points) as a result of a loss in Minnesota on the final day of the regular season.
Grossmann then flew to Europe to join Team Sweden at the IIHF World Championships. Unfortunately, a collision with teammate Magnus Paajarvi in a preliminary round victory over Austria caused Grossmann to reinjure the knee and miss the remainder of the tournament.
if this is what the peng-wines overreacted to the entire franchise should be revoked and all players in their organization should be banned from even thinking about the sport of hockey for all eternity.
The Flyers were ahead 6-3 when Pens coach Dan Bylsma put Deryk Engelland, Arron Asham and Joe Vitale on the ice. Vitale leveled Danny Briere with a high, but clean open ice hit as scrums broke out.
That hit was like the direct result of Brayden Schenn cross-checking Sidney Crosby moments earlier.
Crosby told reporters, “It’s pretty cheap. He skates 10 feet … If that’s a sign of what’s to come, then we’re in for a pretty tough playoff series.”
Engelland did a number on Wayne Simmonds. Asham took on Schenn. Matt Niskaken took on Marc-Andre Bourdon.
The Pens, who have been outright owned by the Flyers this season, were sending a message to the Flyers of what their first round playoff series will be like next week.
And the Flyers answered.
As they fought, Lavy went jawing with Granato.
“He’s got our back,” Claude Giroux said of his coach.
“It was pretty intense there seeing him break the stick. It kinda caught me by surprise. He’s an intense coach who loves his players and he had out back there.”
It was Max Talbot’s stick Laviolette snapped.
“He broke my stick and I was pretty sad about that,” Talbot deadpanned. “It was a good stick. Things happen out there. I can understand his reaction.”

Malkin's spear into Bourdon's nuts was particularly bad after MAB was already down.
