The Blues left the door slightly ajar - hopefully we can close it a little.

I see this as a less than 20% chance of happening. Pretty sure we're locked into 2nd.

Depends, the Blues are missing some pieces and might want to coast, it's not impossible for us to overtake them seeing as we have a game in hand.

Most of media talking heads thought Schneider would get this game because he has a better record against Dallas, and they would come back with Luongo tomorrow against Calgary, I wonder if Lu plays both ends of the back to back and all the way to post season?
- 1970vintage

Doubtful. I think they wanted to give Lu at look at Dallas since we could very well end up playing them again in 2 weeks' time. I'd be surprised if Schneider doesn't play tomorrow night.

Agreed it's definitely not impossible, just unlikely with only 5 games left is all I was saying.

Here's an article to give you a bigger headache on the Lu vs Schneids for the playoffs question:

IMO, if the nucks lose tonight and the Blues win against the Jackets, its over.
it will be a 5 point difference and 4 games to play. no chance at all.

But, If the nucks win tonight, it will be an interesting scenario since the Blues face the Wings/Phoenix and Dallas. Vancouver will play only non-playoff teams (Calgaryx2, Edmonton and Ducks).

I agree with you that is not impossible, but the nucks need to win tonight. Burp.

Besides, it's Dallas and Calgary. They really shouldn't be so tough an opponent that you need to shape your game to defeating them. Just play your game and they should be the one concerned about finding a way to win.

IMO, thats the initial part of the defeat. The nucks should not take lightly no opponent these days.

Looks like Lappy is getting a promotion. Would've preferred to have seen Kassian up there but whatever.

It shouldn't be the overriding goal for the Canucks but winning and getting in playoff mode should be and if we get 2 points tonight for the GIH, I'd say more like 40%.

That means that Kassian will get about 5 minutes tonight. Great.

EDIT: and why the (frank) is Weise playing right now? He's great for early in the season but brings absolutely nothing during this time of year.

With Daniel out and Booth/Kesler obviously being useless together, why isn't Booth playing with Henrik for a couple games?

Booth Henrik Kassian
Burrows Kesler Raymond
Higgins Pahlsson Hansen
Malhotra Lapierre Weise

Well done Troy. Well done indeed.
Now replace Malhotra and Weise and you got yourself a team.

If I were in charge, they'd be replaced with Duco and Bitz in an instant.

Interesting read. Based on this I'd like to see a statistical breakdown of the Canucks puck possession game.

He's not even hitting more with the additional ice time he's been getting. He's not doing anything...

Scooby may be right...he may be a sitting in the playoffs.

I thought he played alright at times last game. 3 hits, and I liked how he protected the puck and had a few nice feeds to the point. Still not good enough to keep him on Henrik's line, I guess, and as you pointed out, he still needs to play more physical. Baby steps...
