Part One of the plan looks really good ....part Deux needs to kick before the young guys get frustrated. |

exactly! i realize there are negatives to this team, with the fact that everyone in our top 9 is a soft player (other then frattin and ashton, but i think frattin started the game on the 4th line) but there are positives too (schenn is becoming more patient with the puck and making better first passes out of the zone, gardiner has been great for us). we need more team toughness. we need a real crash and bang 3rd line. with ashton and frattin/ross next year, we only need a real 3rd line banging center (steckel just isnt good enough for 3rd line). I guy to play 3rd line could be jarrett stoll and paul gaustad. but we still need a #1C (lupul can still be the crash and bang forward) and we need 2 guys to play 2nd line with grabo (kadri could be one, if he adds some weight he might be able to stick) and i dont want macarthur anymore. maybe kulemin comes back hard and can be that 2nd liner he was when he scored 30 goals (even if he gets 25 i'd be happy).
the defense is the toughest part. even if we add schultz, hes not a hitter and our d will still be soft other then schenn (i havent seen a big hit from phaneuf in i dont even know how long). a soft d wouldnt be so bad in the west, but when you have to play boston 6 times and philly 3-4 times, those are 10 games we will get dominated in.
guys i think need to be traded
Franson
Macarthur
Connolly
Armstrong
Lombardi
Komisarek
O, and add a vet goalie. Maybe if Calgary decides to do a proper rebuild we can add kipper. that's my rant for today, unless i get bored later lol - matt1337
yup, agreed.. tho i think we need to hang onto franson.. give these young d-men to carlyle.. he'll whip em into shape. |

Edmonton really needs to take some d-men with thier picks... Nice to have all those awesome future star players, but Defense and Goaltending is the hardest thing to get in the NHL... You should be going after that with your picks... - RooNosHockey
Ryan Murray here we come.

for his size, hes sooo soft. he got out worked by briere. its disappointing. he cant even throw a proper hit. if they can't teach him that, no point keeping him. might as well trade him while his value is high |

I dont.
Not like Im an insider or anything, but Ive been hearing Murray is NHL ready, and is consistently the highest ranked dman in this draft class.

Im not sure the hard taskmaster is the route to take in today's NHL

So if Phaneuf and Luke are on the ice at the same time.......... And Phaneuf and Brayden get into a scrap, and Phaneuf is totally cleaning his clock, what would Luke do?? Help his little bro??
Interesting little quandry for Luke - faceto27
Hahaha no it's not. I'm sure if you asked Luke, he wouldn't consider stepping in against a team mate, even if it is his brother. |

Nothing like smacking the Flames on home ice when they desperately need to win.

this discussion is just getting old....lets leave it at this.
I think we can all agree that the Leafs had NOTHING when they took over, and atleast we can say they are moving in a better direction now and have added prospects(regardless of how you feel about them) to the once empty cupboards.
Its been bumpy, and I can see more bumps ahead, but alteast theyve been making much better decisions over the last 2-3 years than we've seen for 10+......cool? - noename09
If we're leaving it at that, why did you end with a question mark? hahaha
No, not cool. The team is in marginally better shape than it was before the new regime took over. What's needed is the true and proper rebuild that Leaf Nation was ready and asking for 5 years ago. We either start it now, 5 years later, or we retool and become a playoff bubble team again. |

I have yet to see Brayden back down from anyone, including that goon Phanuef. For a rookie he shows a ton of grit and heart. |
