Oh boy.....sure their have been some good plays of individuals in and there..but as for the leafs...the negative completely outweighs any small positives.
We've got some players that could be decent and could pieces of the puzzle in the future...but right now the future is so blurred with bad contracts, average to below average players, no heart, no fight, no pride, too much verbal diarrhea by Burke and management...there's no clear focus.
I'm not assuming all is bad...but all ain't good...and what is good cannot overtake all that is bad....that's what sucks.
But what can you do. - Fakepartofme

You guys need a new GM. Burke has made the worst decisions. Toronto deserves better then a team whos last real star player was Sundin... |

Glass if half empty...
Now, the glass half full says: Our team has sucked. We are missing a ton of key components, strong vets and goaltending that are nurturing to rookies. We expect our rookies to step in and make immediate impacts without a supporting cast of legit players, as the entire team is struggling. I cant say its fair to any of our rookies to expect them to shine bright on a team whos trying to fit a lightbulb into a socket upside down...

Reality:
New management took over 4 years ago promising to build a perennial contender in less than 5 years by eliminating a culture of entitlement amongst the players, using the financial might of ownership to acquire players other teams can't afford, and trading 2 extremely valuable draft picks for a young supposedly franchise player, who turned out to be a one-dimensional (albeit extremely effective) complimentary piece.
Four years later and every contending team has a core of franchise players, of which the Leafs have next to nothing. The best way, under the salary cap system, is to acquire potential franchise players with lottery draft picks because your team controls their rights at relatively low cap hits for up to 9 seasons. Once the Leafs start acquiring this potential core (starting this June), we'll have something to be positive about. |

yup.. overpaid without a doubt.. but also not burke's contract.
He has to find more consistancy if he hopes to see dollars like that again on his next contract..
i mean hell.. if he could play at the level he did prior to the all star break for a full season i'd say he's worth it.. but he alsways has these lulls during the season |

meh...kinda tough for anyone to shine brightly on this team of late...but in time they *should* get better provided we keep tweeking the roster. Hopefully Carlyle can help fix Dion and Schenns game....*being hopeful |

I miss the days without a Cap....... at least we could try to buy all the players we wanted then
But as you have put it........ that is the sad truth. Stay the course Burke
Or you can always trade for saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay....... Ryan Getzlaf

Meh ...most here recognize he's talented but overpaid by a bit ...that's the only reason he was available.
The growing problem, atleast for me, is that he seems like a bit too much of an d-bag. He's shut it down ....his interviews are, and have always been, terrible ....and he seems to pick his spots to be a 'tough guy' a little too much. He's got a running fued with Hartnell, the other teams leader, and instead of targetting him all night he tries to pick a fight with a 20 year old ...the brother of your teamate ...questionable decision at best.
He can be a player ...but god is he NOT what you want in a captain, IMHO. |

I can see him fixing Phaneuf's game..... Schenn has talent issues that a coach can't fix |
