schenn's game is already turning around under carlyle
kadri needs to be given a real shot.. and if he were in detroit for example (which is the ideal model) he wouldnt even ge a sniff at the NHL for another couple years
Colborne is a question mark.. he needs to find consistancy
goaltending needs help.. i agree there
Kulemin still matched all his stats save for point totals.. he's young enough where thats not really unusual
Aulie was traded for a nice 3rd line forward prospect.
see.. its how you look at things.. there are positives and negatives to every opinion.. and seeing things solely as one or the other will only serve to give you an unrealistic viewpoint - Dozzer
Big picture Dozzer. If Schenn wasn't a 5th over all that required an extra 2nd rounder, the fact his game is starting to become adequate would be a positive.
If Kadri wasn't a 7th overall pick, his brief flashes of brilliance followed by disappearing acts might still be looked at as positive.
If Colborne hadn't disappeared on the Marlies since he lit it up in November...
You have to really really try to look at these things in a positive light. |

I can be patient with Reimer. I think he needs to start in the A next year and build back his confidence from there. I see his struggles this year being largely mental.
Kadri and Colborne have 2 full years of AHL now. How long can you be patient, and have you not adjusted your idea of what their potentials are? All around the league guys from their draft class are starting to make impacts, ie Hodgson.
Obviously the Leafs don't believe in Colborne or why sign Grabo for 5 years? Kadri has consistently demonstrated he doesn't possess the heart and desire to make it at this level. I see him becoming an Ales Hemsky at the high end or a Rob Schremp at the low.
Schenn is obviously not worthy of a 5th overall pick let alone burning a 2nd to get him (traded up from 7 to 5).
My point is all of these prospects' values have decreased significantly since the start of the year. Can you argue with that? How are we supposed to be positive or optimistic or patient about that? - 1979AD
Glass half empty...
Now, the glass half full says: Our team has sucked. We are missing a ton of key components, strong vets and goaltending that are nurturing to rookies. We expect our rookies to step in and make immediate impacts without a supporting cast of legit players, as the entire team is struggling. I cant say its fair to any of our rookies to expect them to shine bright on a team whos trying to fit a lightbulb into a socket upside down...

I'm sure that's all we'll hear about ....until they sign elsewhere.
Like you said unless the $$$ is different do you really want to play for/with this captain if you have the choice? Maybe ....but it's got to be a concern. - The Law

and to assume a player will find consistancy before his md twenties is just flat out wrong.. not everybody is like that.. in fact.. most arent
like i said.. do you think schenn or kadri would even have seen NHL ice yet if they were drafted by Detroit?
not a chance... save maybe a callup or two due to injury.
people need more patience.;.. if at 25 they arent contributing.. then thats the time to start saying they didnt reach their ceilings.. not at 22.. thats simply too soon. |

How many Leaf fans are enjoying watching the leafs at the moment?
If you could forget about the last 2 months, woud you? - riceroni
The ratings don't reflect enjoyment........just number of viewers........it fails to measure their attitude..........people still watch.......
Now it's gotten to the point that probably even more people watch.........cause it's like a train wreck........you try not to watch but you can't help but look at it

Don't forget the Isles moved from 3 to 1 and took DiPietro. That's more indicative of the Leafs' drafting style. - 1979AD
Dipietro is not a bad goalie - just injury prone - worst case scenerio is Patrick Stefan or *GULP* Alexander Daigle |

At least the Leafs are tanking properly now.
Flames avoid playoffs and rebuild at all costs.

And the rebuild in Edmonton is going oh so well. |

I think he should blow it to hell and go as hard as he can for Suter, Nash, Parise. - robin_steele264
The Leafs need to use the 'Rags as the example of how to get competitive. They had a decent core (Dubinsky, Boyle, Callahan, Staal, Girardi and Lundquist) but were a 7-10 kind of team until they added Gaborik and Richards.
So all we're missing is the best goalie in the league and two superstar fwds.
July 1st BB better have a 12 yr 80 milly contract offer for Parise on the table. |
