Something you people should try.
I've never seen such a pathetic group of people....one minute you are loving this team; they're making the playoffs, you dont want to trade anyone because they have so much potential (or you want to trade spart parts for superstars) and they will be great in 5 - 8 years, our only downfall is the coach, we cant wait for them to make their post allstar run blah blah blah......meanwhile...every other hockey fan (ones without blue goggles) are telling you ...no...you're not that good, your players aren't that good, your blinded, wake up....

Then

The inevitable losing streak happens.
OMG the world is grumbling. This team is so bad blah blah blah something must be done.

The coach is fired. Ok the team is saved....they will turn it around...here we go.

The team plummets even more.
Well that's ok...new system....they'll turn it around...Schenn will be star under this new system, the goalies will look better, the D will be better blah blah blah.

They plummet even more.....well they must throwing it.....it's too much of a coincidence...they are doing it on purpose...something seems suspicious....of course a week or so ago, there was this big blog about how players never tank.....blah blah blah....but now it must be on purpose.

So now it's, yes we want to lose...just so you dont look like fools.......again....for another season.

I'm not hating....but facts are facts.
It's the same old noise every year.
Its fun to watch and read dont get me wrong...I do get a kick out it....very groundhog day-ish.
But now that I've stepped back from Leaf nation to view it from a different perpective...I see what everyone else has for oh so many years....and it makes me smile.
So keep up the good work guys!

The problem i have with everything you write is this.

You take all the positive thinking and overall crazyness from a bunch of random people, sum it all up and group us all into one group.

Then you just go on with negativity all the time and wait for things to go wrong so you look right. It goes both ways...

all valid points.. and i dont necessarily disagree but you make it sound like every asset the leafs have is garbage.. which.. is simply not true.

they have some very good pieces.. some being under utilized, some being utilized in the wrong roles, and some not being used at all.

you need to understand that in order to have your opinion taken seriously you need to provide a balanced argument and not just "everything is dire, there is nothing of value whatsoever, etc."you would find people would be far more receptive to your opinions if you took the time to point out some of the positive things you see on the team. Also, as a side note to this.. if you dont see anything positive then you have become jaded and are just as unrealistic as the maple leaf fans who are go "ra ra ra" all the time.

try to be more balanced with what you say and you will find you will garner far more respect

Which is a step up from what we've had prior to Burke...so I give Burke credit for that.

I would love nothing more than to be on here today taking my licks for saying since last summer the team will not be making the playoffs...and there was a little part of me (forgo the penis jokes people ) that thought in January....well holy sh!t....these guys might actually make the playoffs..hot damn! But... there was a bigger part of me (inset penis jokes) that said dont get ahead of yourself....so many games left.
I would have loved to have been wrong.....I want FACKING PLAYOFF HOCKEY....for the leafs!!!!!

Don't know why or how you could trade for a UFA Parise (trading a lottery pick for negotiating rights would be ridiculous). Also, that #1 goalie better be a guy like Rinne, or what's the point? I'd rather roll with the goalies we have to get Nate McKinnon in the following draft, and worry about filling that hole after we have the two lottery picks locked up for relatively cheap until they're 27.

kessel is still an elite sniper.. not a core piece a he is being utlized but def an asset

phaneuf needs to simplify his game.. his skill set is there.. but he's trying to do too much

schenns game has slowly begun to turn around under carlyle

the leafs are playing a more structured system now.. they arent built very well for it.. but structure is finally beginning to show its face

the leafs may not have a franchise prospect.. but they do have tons of potential moving forward (mckegg for example)

thats just off the top of my head
