Sounds like you need to put on the skates and go try out for the Leafs or put a app in to become the GM of the Leafs so you can overwhelm them with your sense and reality.

He's really tall! To be fair he's struggling like almost every American going to the CHL. JT Miller hasn't been good, Saad was pretty mediocre last season, Tinordi was an absolute pile of trash, Jack Campbell became one of the pooptiest goalies in the league.
- AdamFrench

Miller at least started to look better. Saad is just streaky, I think thats just who he is. Tinordi was terrible last year, but he's looked the part well this year... but I should note he was maybe a little more mobile than Olesiak last year at this time... although I think a parking meter is more mobile than Oleksiak is.

Jack Campbell. Man, what the hell do you say about Jack Campbell. From that world junior where he stood on his head and won the US the gold to where he is now, a large part of the blame of why the Soo missed the playoffs and a kid who just seemed to get worse and worse. I don't get it. Such promise and its flying away.

Here is how to fix the Leafs...

1. Burke, swallow your pride and say your original plan failed but that you have a new plan that will take time but will be a rebuild based on how historically successful teams have done it.

2. Make some trades. Not all these guys but some of them have to be on the block prior to the draft. get prospects and quality picks for...
- Lupul (never going to have a greater value and won't be here / or as effective in 5 years when the Leafs can be a legit contender.
- MacArthur
- Reimer
- Phaneuf
- Kessel

3. Get rid of somehow
- Komiserak
- Army
- Conolley

4. Build around
- Gardiner
- Schenn (will bounce back)
- Frattin
- Kadri
- Gunner
- Biggs
- Percy

5. use the cap space to pitch for Parise and Suter...

6. trade some assets received that don't include your #1 pick for Schneider....

7... be patient...

It makes complete sense and I do get the point that moving him would both represent a huge step down for an Irishman with a lot of pride and acknowledgement that he lost out on a huge investment.

I just think the last few weeks change everything. Think RIM -- you buy at $50 and in September it was trading at $30. Would have taken a lot for somebody to dump it and take a loss but hey, it cliosed at $13 something yesterday.

The guy is fighting to hold onto his job and his reputation. That means more to him than losing face on the Kessel deal.

- Canada Cup

all things considered it just makes more sense to keep Kessel unless you can move him for more than hes worth.

I know you may have problems with reality...but Reimer doesn't have more potential...there's a reason he was so low on the depth chart.
Reimer might turn into an average goalie, but Gus will be a better average goalie.....just not with the leafs.

Reimer's bad...reall bad....Gus is bad....pretty bad.
Both are garbage...but Gus has a little more upside.
But not much.

- Fakepartofme

I'm going to disagree only because Gustavsson has been in the NHL for 3 years i believe it is now and still sucks ass. Unless he goes to a super team like the Canucks, Bruins, Blues and a couple other teams. His weaknesses will be exposed and he will still suck as bad as he has here the last 3 years.

I'm not going to say anything about reimer because at the end of the day he still hasn't completed a full NHL season. HOWEVER and i say HOWEVER did i mention HOWEVER, I don't want him as the starting goaltender going into next season, he needs a veteran to play behind so he can regain his confidence and hopefully play like he was at the end of the year last year and the start this year to give us a solid backup.

There isn’t a team in the league that wouldn’t want Kessel. The only issue is he is a high end complimentary piece, not the cornerstone. No point in dealing him unless you break the bank and if you do, great, if not, then you have a legit 30-40 goal scorer every year.

My point on that is build around your youth... those guys could be good if they are given an environment that has less pressure than what's currently going on...

Reimer at 23 has FAR more chance to become a better goalie with proper direction/coaching/mentoring than a 28year old Gus who cant stop a puck from the blueline.

Nothing more needs to be said about this..."reality" discussion.

Hawks won it when they got Kane, Devils won it last year, Florida won it 2002.

Don't forget the Isles moved from 3 to 1 and took DiPietro. That's more indicative of the Leafs' drafting style.

ok....but for future reference...when someone says "for arguments sake", it only means for the sake of what is being argued. Not actually being discussed with any form of seriousness.
