I cant disagree more....although Kessel is not a "Burke" style player, he is consistently a top scorer and with the addition of a legit centerman could do wonders. The price he paid for him is like paying 55 cents for a new toy car that has a convertible top and then trading that toy car a few years later for a toy car without a convertible top that would normally cost 45 cents.

What im saying is I cant really see any trade that Burke may pull off with respec to Kessel that would make up for trading away two firsts and a second...he would need to get a player close to the talent level of Seguin and a high pick. He cant afford to lose MORE....its done with and you stick with him.

Make more sense?

So you are saying Kessel is like a 55 cent car with a convertible top.

So I woke up and saw the end of the Leaf game last night and heard the fans chanting i couldn't make it out because of ferraro and the other goof but until i read it was Lets go Bluejays. I thought the fans were saying Lets go Bruins.

As far as this team goes. They are done Washington won last night so we were officially eliminated from 9th place and with 2 more losses coming up against Buffalo unless the leafs decide to shove a hockey stick up the Sabres asses and ruin there playoff chances we should pretty much be sitting pretty for a nice and high draft pick.

Honestly though I want the draft pick and get rid of half of this team and replace it with half of the Marlies team for next year.

Meant if Leafs won the lottery and had a chance to acquire him -- I don't think Burke considers moving the pick. Any other circumstance I think he would for the right guy.
- Canada Cup

If they were going to move up, I'd only go a couple spots and attempt one of Grigorenko or Galchenyuk. When the standings and the lottery all happen, it'll be interesting to see who is where. Those top end D will be a nice prize for a team who needs them, and maybe sliding down a couple spots won't come at such a cost to the Leafs. To me, those two centers present the best long term solution.
Again though, cost...

Even after the laughable play by both of them this year, i still think Gus will be a better goalie going forward, it will be for a different team though. It will end up going down as just another mess up by Burke.
- Leafland

Oh I agree...the Leafs (cause they're fools and never know what they are doing with players) will keep Reimer and let Gus walk.
Gus will be a better goalie and we'll be stuck with more useless trash.

But with that said....I dont think Gus will be a great goalie....just an average one.

Can't believe Strome, streaky bastard Oleksisuck is a pylon out there. Pretty weird. The Generals will lose but when their streaky ass guys go hot they are dangerous and they are the king of streakers, Thomas, Lessio, Jensen, Boone Jenner is the only consistent guy they have.

Oleksiak is absolute garbage. Maybe he'll be a better pro than junior though, I don't know, but he doesn't do anything but stand taller than most. I don't get the hype around that kid at all.

so, to sum this up....

Gus will be a better goalie, who will only be average and we should keep him and let Reimer go...who is younger and has more *potential* to become more than just an "average" goalie....?

At the end of the day, the pick will either be used to draft someone we dont need and who most likely wont live up the expectations or it will be trade for something we dont need but sounds good.
Neither of which will change the fact that our D is complete crap, save maybe for one two people, most of our forwards are overpaid and garbage and our goaltending is a joke.

It makes complete sense and I do get the point that moving him would both represent a huge step down for an Irishman with a lot of pride and acknowledgement that he lost out on a huge investment.

I just think the last few weeks change everything. Think RIM -- you buy at $50 and in September it was trading at $30. Would have taken a lot for somebody to dump it and take a loss but hey, it cliosed at $13 something yesterday.

The guy is fighting to hold onto his job and his reputation. That means more to him than losing face on the Kessel deal.

He's really tall! To be fair he's struggling like almost every American going to the CHL. JT Miller hasn't been good, Saad was pretty mediocre last season, Tinordi was an absolute pile of trash, Jack Campbell became one of the pooptiest goalies in the league.

Sounds like you need to put on the skates and go try out for the Leafs or put a app in to become the GM of the Leafs so you can overwhelm them with your sense and reality.

I know you may have problems with reality...but Reimer doesn't have more potential...there's a reason he was so low on the depth chart.
Reimer might turn into an average goalie, but Gus will be a better average goalie.....just not with the leafs.

Reimer's bad...reall bad....Gus is bad....pretty bad.
Both are garbage...but Gus has a little more upside.
But not much.
