Time to just pack it in and try to move down the standings for a better pick...Miller would just choke in the playoffs anyway

Oh god so much Irony. "Golf is a must". Still true for the Leafs today!

Seriously though, the NHL back then was a boys club. There were few teams with little competition for roster spots. Most teams had the same roster every year. Training and game development were minimal because that was their comformt zone.

check out this book its really good. Its about the NHL expansion.

http://www.amazon.com/The...ate-Changed/dp/1450286054

The NHL back then was about keeping a close knit few clubs who passed the Stanley cup around between them, with Chicago and NY getting very few. The GM's and players wanted to keep it that way and were seriously opposed to expansion

Kind of sad really. Also if you watch the NBC documentary on the 72 summit series it also talks about players being out of shape and playing an outdated hockey system.

bahahaha, still true for the leafs today, lmfao, priceless dude
Well put about the NHL before the 67 expansion. Thanks for the link to the book. Looks like an interesting read. Cheers mate

Do you think the Isles would trade us Tavares if we agreed to take DiPietro off their hands? 4.5 M thru 2020/21, whats that nine more years? For an .890 goalie that plays 8 times a year.

Maybe,
But we'd still have to give them back A TON I'd think for them to do it

I'd LOVE e.kane from Winnipeg

And I'm hoping both LA and SJ miss the playoffs bc they'd be more likely to shake up their "core" and I'd love to get d.brown & pavelski

And with us finishing so strong (and hopefully winning a round or 2) I think we have a legit chance at getting parise &/or suter in free agency

So how about that Brian Flynn?
I hope the Sabres get a couple of other College guys signed too!

That puts Luke Adam out there for trades for sure.
I see him up for the plyoffs if the team gets to the 2nd round.

going to need to do some serious trading to pick up suter and parise.

Parise is a likely targe; would mean that Roy and Leopold may leave in a separate trade for a younger payer or pick upgrades.

Judging by his playoff performance, I'd gladly let a team spend that much money that isn't mine on a guy like that.

Leino's done it once. Briere's done it multiple times...for different teams. That being said, I am curious to see what Leino brings in the postseason should the Sabres make it. It's what they brought him here for.

Still not drafting him for my playoff team. Guy's invisible way too often. Dangles way too often with no results. Wish we could swap Leino and Briere for the playoffs. Man..

So why is nobody making a big deal about the Bruins' lack of "response" to a hit on McQuaid that was much dirtier than Lucic on Miller?

Because his name is McQuaid and it wasn't a dirty hit.

We all know that Lucic's talk was just that, I mean we all saw how they handled the Savard thing.

I disagree that Chimera's boarding was worse than Lucic's blatent run on Miller.

McQuaid turned, but there's a rule, if you can see the number, you don't make the hit. I don't buy for a minute that he didn't have time to peel off. I've seen players do it with less time and room to do so.

Clean hit.
He turned while trying to maintain control of the puck.
McQuaid gambled...and lost.

Watch the vid again.
He had NO time to avoid hitting McQuaid.
