Yes, it would seem that 58 might just be the Pens most important player. - LordStanley88
I would agree with this. Aside from good Fleury. |

Because your team lacks something called depth. Who's he gonna play with on the second unit? Pascal Dupuis?
- LordStanley88
You have an ironic username.
If Duper got powerplay time he'd be looking at 30. |

It's always funny when the Flyers win and their fans (some of them) come looking to stir the pot.
Dupuis has 52 points this year and is versatile enough to play just about anywhere except maybe in goal.
Depth is NOT a problem.

Especially since Dupuis has just as many points as Jagr and 6 more goals. |

Bylsma has to get his crap together on the PP and coach his current best player in Malkin, don't freaking care about his 100 points. As much as he's scored he is a huge liability lately(On the PP mainly). If you're gonna put him on the point, tell him to play actual defence, otherwise stick him on the half wall and get some D on the point to stop these giveaways. Pretty simple to me, Malkin Crosby Kunitz, Depres and maybe Sullivan then actually rotate to your 2nd unit once in a while, Neal Staal Dupuis Michalek Martin. Obviously Letang goes in at some point and whoever comes off. |

Oh man it was sweet watching the Isles beat the Pens...AGAIN! So happy when Crosby got that puck in the face....I hope he retires after getting knocked out by someone on Philly and has another concussion. Have fun getting bounced in the first round....only a matter of time before the Islanders prospects are all in the big show and we will be beating you guys like this on a regular basis. - litlchuck55

Yea, sad that some people really do wish for injury to others. Now I have an obvious dislike for Crosby & Malkin but I would never ever wish or hope for injury to them.
I guess the Pens were due to come back to earth a bit after that remarkable 15 game or so run but last night, especially after Tuesday has to make you scratch your head. 5 games left for both the Rangers & Pens, Pens might have to be more concerned with holding off the Flyers for 4th than catching the Rangers. |

Rangers are safe now in the 1 spot, even if they lose to the Pens in regulation. |

Not over yet, but we obviously have some breathing room now. Like I said, you guys now gotta be concerned with holding off Philly to keep home ice for that series. And only a team like the Islanders can win 2 games, yet simultaneously hurt themselves for a lottery pick & help their biggest rival. |

My concerns about attention to detail are...obviously...still there.
Not enough...'getting to our game'...too many slow feet and...again...guys trying to score instead of playing the way they need to to win the game.
Simply put, the guys that are away from the puck need to make sure they are doing all the right things. This means, especially, being in a good offensive or defensive position to react and respond.
Too many guys on their heels...or anticipating a play to occur a certain way and it did not.
In the NHL, it only takes 1 step in the wrong direction and you are giving up the puck...or a scoring chance.
It seems to me that they got away from making sure they were in good position (over the winning streak) and now they have to THINK to make sure they are where there're supposed to be. You CAN'T THINK...it has to be second nature...it has to be like an unconscious response. The brain has to be on autopilot as far was where you should be is concerned. If you need to take that extra second to think about it, you will lose.
Hopefully tonight we see better execution of the gameplan and better results.

Tonight will be telling. I'm not so much looking for a win vs. a loss but how they play the game. If they play like they are supposed to and Miller steals it, I'm fine with it. If it looks like the two Islander games and they win, I won't like it. |

Aside from the two islanders games, the pens had been playing well though, no? Every team has a few tough losses. Like the flyers against Tampa the other day. Seems like we're destined to dance in the first round. Should be a good one. |

Ottawa game on Saturday was a complete abortion. I think the concern is that the Penguins have been extremely loose defensively even in their wins. The Predator game was way closer than that score, they missed at least two wide open nets early/mid game. Their high octane offense and goaltender who is able to make 10 bell saves was previously hiding the poor play. Come playoffs, that will not work. Whatever seed they get, so be it, but they better start playing the proper brand of hockey that has made them Champions or at least favorites to be Champions. |

Just looked at the standings and I can't remember when making the playoffs or missing out on them came down the the last couple games as much as it does this season. In the west any one of 5 teams (Col, SJ, Pho, Dal, LA) can miss if they lose just one and the others win. Dallas could go from 3rd to missing the playoffs after just one loss.
In the east it is Buf, Wash, and Ottawa that could all miss out if they don't finish strong. Fl could be in the mix if they lose a couple more too. It is great time of the year to watch games outside of the team you cheer for. |

A matter of time until the prospects are in the big show? The Islanders have sucked for years now and the only prospect who is showing anything was a sure bet in Taveres. Even El Nino has taken to the Islander code.
Losses happen, this team is playing slutty (fast and loose) right now. It happens when you have clinched a playoff birth and have 5-7 games left. So I'm not sure if it's indicitive of how the Penguins will play, but it definitly shows a lack of attention during these garabage games. |

This post is pretty much the epitome of the phrase "delusions of grandeur."
Congrats on winning these 2 games. The Islanders played well and deserved what they earned. It doesn't change the fact that your team has a standing tee time at 9AM starting the second week of April. |

In some respects, the two wins over the Pens is probably one of the worst things to happen to the Isles, perhaps giving them the impression that they are closer to being competitive than they are (I know that they have some young talent, but they aren't as close as two wins over the Pens might lead the team/fans to believe).
Hoping for a big bounce-back by the Pens tonight -- although the Caps played like bums in a critical game against the Sabres and probably don't deserve it, I still want to see them get in. |

This post for real? You guys have sucked for as long as I can remember. We have heard about these great prospects for years and none of them have really materialized. Outside of Tavares, all of your better players were picked off the waiver wire. |

Take a look at this site:
http://www.hockeysfuture....hl_organisation_rankings/
Tell me where the Islanders are ranked in prospects and where the Pens are ranked? Isles at 3 Pens at 21.
First off I don't think you have any idea what you are talking about regarding Isles prospects. This is shown by the fact that you called Tavares a prospect when he has been in the league 3 years already. By definition he is no longer a prospect. I don't know if you heard of Ryan Strome who is tearing it up in the OHL, Brock Nelson who was tops in the WCHA in goals, Scott Mayfield who went to the frozen four with Denver, Kevin Poulin (compared to Fleury by the way) who is tearing it up in Bridgeport, not to mention Kabanov, Lee, Donovan, Nino, Nilsson, do I have to keep going?
I say a matter of time because if you knew anything about the Islanders or hockey in general you would realize their rebuild is taking longer than the Pens. Why? Well because if your to shortsighted to remember before the Pens won the cup in 2009 they sucked for 15 years and bad enough to get a few number ones and number two picks.
On the other hand, Garth Snow had to restock the entire Islander team and the minor leagues...thus I say its a matter of time because their prospects are young. Get the facts straight before you say idiotic things like Tavares is a prospect.
I said I was happpy about Cyndy Crybaby because then maybe he will retire and you fans will remember your sucky past that was worse than he Islanders! |
