and Holland looks like he may get a shot at the NHL as well. Overager or not been a while since we had someone get over 100pts in the WHL coming into our system.

How the (frank) is Perron a better player? In hindsight not only can it be said that Pacioretty is a better point-getter but he's also way more resilient. Perron has been on the LITR most of the time whereas Patches took the end of the season and a summer and got back into shape.
- PRICEless

I thought the same, Perron has the better hands but I'm not sure he has the durability.

This could be either good, or really bad. Like Gainey and company and their constant NCAA boner. To scout one league over the others is rather narrowminded IMO, i understand the need and want for home grown talent, as long as they dont get short sighted and tunnel vision and dont pay enough attention to the other leagues as well.
- Prolific_Scorer

I don't see why they would put themselves at a disadvantage by not scouting the other leagues extensively. However, putting more effort in scouting "home grown talent" can become an advantage if the other teams are overlooking the Q.

And by "home grown", I mean players in the Q. Grigorenko, Frk and such are included even if they are not "pure-laine".

Don't be a homer. I don't think Pacioretty is really better than Perron, nor that perron is that better that Pacioretty. They are very different players. Pacioretty was what the Habs needed, though.

Key words: Likely will be. Goaltenders are pretty much unpredictable in their development. He's got good upside, no doubt.
- thomas81

Considering the point he's already at there's not a single doubt that he'll only keep on getting better. Barring a DiPietro-type injury, ofc.

Drafted in the same year.

Perron has more games played, more points and more points per game.

Be reminded that, not only am i not one of Price's biggest critics, but also a Halak fan. And i was pissed we even drafted him in the 5th position, instead of say a big point getting center like Kopitar. There are still good goalies that can be found later on in the draft, 1st line center who can put up points, not so much.

A very transparent homer. He was blathering about the Refs favouritism to MTL in a Buffalo thread and it was astonishing just how clueless he really is.

Don't argue with fred about a french player versus an anglo player. just don't and spare us his continued diatribe on the subject which i will sum up for you, in case you forgot...

I'm not being a homer those are facts. There is simply ZERO argument that'd support the claim that the habs should've drafted Perron instead of Patches, as Fred implied.

Realistically Patche has only been playing like he's able since last year. Its unfair to compare Pacioretty's 2 years as a 3rd / 4th liner to Perron's 2 years as a 1st line winger.

It would have been hard to be upset over either player getting drafted. I do like that Pacioretty will crash a little harder.

Also, Perron never scored more than 50. Patches is already at 60. AND he's not injured all the (frank)ing time.
