Most hab fans problem with this trade is the habs easily gave up the more talented player, and bourque is capable of disappearing for long stretches as well. - Prolific_Scorer
He's lazy no doubt but I'm willing to bet they can move Bourque in the summer. Big guy who can reach 20+ goals. |

Believe it or not, Price isn't an all-star goaltender. One of you said in the Leafs thread that he was one of the top three goaltenders in the WORLD.
One strong season doesn't make you an elite goaltender. He's above-average. No doubt the team in front of him sucks but look at the terrible goals he's given this year. It happens on a regurlar basis. - thomas81
Yet, but it is very likely he will be, and is the only real consistent player on a really poopy team. He has won at every level. The team on most nights has left him hung out to dry. He hasnt lost the habs many games this season, on the same token, he hasnt stolen them many either. And im not even a huge Price fan like some. |

I maybe wrong here, but i believe this was PG's thoughts when he traded for Bourque. |

The Gomez deal speaks for itself. There is no positive spin to it, zero. The Kaberle deal over the term is as bad. I don't mind the Bourque deal, more because of the cap implication and picking up what appears to be a decent overager prospect and a 2nd. Its just not enough to justify the other two trades or more importantly the unprofessional way in which he has dealt with his staff and players. - Pie

I get it.
You guys don't really know the results of many of those trades. People slam Bourque but I would have done that deal in a second. Cammalleri has a terrible terrible contract. - thomas81
I was happy that they got rid of that contract but Bourque is a horrible player, you have to trade players when their value is high, not low which is what Gauthier did with Cammalleri. |

Key words: Likely will be. Goaltenders are pretty much unpredictable in their development. He's got good upside, no doubt. |

Would be hard to justify trading him though if it were high as the entire team was doing well when Cammalari did well. |

That's not the point. In a cap world, when you can get a non-desirable contract out the doors, that's an asset.
That's why I said dealing Cammalleri was a good trade. Terrible contract. Doesn't really matter what you get for Bourque even if it's only a 6th rounder. |

I'd do that trade again any day, Cammy was done in MTL, got a decent player back and a pick I believe, and that contract was bad, just bad. |

He simply said the fact that some NHL teams view the Q as an "inferior league" (even if the Sea Dogs are most likely going to repeat this season and possibly next year too) the Habs should use it at their advantage and make sure they find the best players available in this league. - Pecafan Fan
This could be either good, or really bad. Like Gainey and company and their constant NCAA boner. To scout one league over the others is rather narrowminded IMO, i understand the need and want for home grown talent, as long as they dont get short sighted and tunnel vision and dont pay enough attention to the other leagues as well. |

and Holland looks like he may get a shot at the NHL as well. Overager or not been a while since we had someone get over 100pts in the WHL coming into our system. |

Of all the picks he clearly was the best one. But Perron is still a better player in my mind. - Fredobbface
How the (frank) is Perron a better player? In hindsight not only can it be said that Pacioretty is a better point-getter but he's also way more resilient. Perron has been on the LITR most of the time whereas Patches took the end of the season and a summer and got back into shape. |
