I believe he can.

Also, I don't think Gauthier was a bad GM. Like I said, he inherited a terrible product.

a product he helped built.

At some point after the ASG, Mr. Burke should have went out and got Mr. Wilson a goalie. That alone may cost him his job, as it likely cost Mr. Wilson his.

Goaltending shouldn't be a priority. I made this clear. Reimer isn't anything great. He's not going to be a superstar. But I do believe he can be a good goaltender.

How many superstar goalies are there in this league? 5-6? The rest are average to slightly above-average.

(frank)ing horrible GM. Firing guys just before a game, trading them in game, refusing to tell players where they've been traded. Signing a poopty soft Kaberle. Even remotely being involved in the Gomez deal. It all adds up to garbage. Glad he's gone.

Brian Elliot signed for 600K. Theodore, Smith and Niemi are having good seasons. Finding a decent goalie is fairly easy.

You don't affect me one way or the other. 2 teams duking it out for the basement and you believe its not the GMs fault.

Insulting people just isn't my thing. I don't need to insult people when I don't agree with them.

So let me get this straight: If Burke makes a bad signing/trade, it automatically makes Nonis/Loiselle idiots?
- thomas81

No but they are all responsible. They work and discuss things as a team, if they do not then it is useless having all those assistant GMs.

You think Burke is the guy scouting minor leagues and all 29 other NHL teams?
He's got a word to say, for sure, there's no denying that.

But he makes his decisions based on what his team gives him in terms of scouting a particular player.

believe it or not, Burke doesn't know every single player in the league nor does he know what every single team's got in their farm...

This is the thing that creeps me out the most... We have a Quebec-first guy at the head of the team.

You don't think one bit that Brian Elliot is benefiting from Hitchcock's system? I mean come on, you don't go from barely being a back-up to being an All-Star.

Yes this is true, cup winning teams do it with mediocre goaltending, I agree.

By the way Savard was mouthing around yesterday, and the fact Molson said it would be important for the new GM to be a great communicator for the fans and media, I would say things are already changing.

IMO this would have at least given the leafs some stability on the back end, watching the monstar let in Toskala like goals nightly has to be frustrating for the rest of the team and the fans alike.

Believe it or not, Price isn't an all-star goaltender. One of you said in the Leafs thread that he was one of the top three goaltenders in the WORLD.

One strong season doesn't make you an elite goaltender. He's above-average. No doubt the team in front of him sucks but look at the terrible goals he's given this year. It happens on a regurlar basis.
