It's non sensical to think that trading Plekanec would bring us a better centerman than he is. I dont think moving him is the right decision, anyway.

Doesn't have to be a centerman.

They should/could draft one.

Draft a good center.

Desharnais becomes your second who can provide good secondary scoring.

Plekanec becomes an awesome shut down third line center who can chip in offensively

5M for a 3rd center? Just trade him for a young power forward and a good pick.

If this habs team can afford to put Plekanec on a 3rd line then all the better... I dont think Eller (or the guy we're going to draft) will be able to do what Plek does (both offensively and defensively) just next year.

For now let Eller be the 3rd line center. He backchecks and produces at a decent rate and is getting better every year.

At work but i'm perfectly aware of the mgmt change however Timmins is still the amateur head scout, ASP.

I don't have a problem with Timmins.

He's not the guy trading picks and prospects for mediocre past their prime players.

Totally agreed, i like Timmins. He is, however, the scout who drafted McDonagh and Fischer on years where our talent pool on offense was incredibly small. If i remember well, our best forward prospects at the time were Higgins, Perezhogin and Kostitsyn.

Wich brings us back to my original comment : i'm scared that there are so many d-man in the top 10 this year.
