fine. He was good in Dallas.
What did he do after that?

I like how someone can be called good at something, when they had ONE successful run and won ONE championship or got a high honor or achievement.

Winter Olympics.
Also you are niave to believe Gretzky wasn't more than a coach to the Yotes.

- stormeyAlterEgo

So because Gretzky was a terrible manager, it means every former player is a terrible manager too?

Poor Yzerman... he's toast!

Not sure it's even possible that he's as dumb, though.
- Pecafan Fan

Houle was inexperienced, Gauthier was dumb.

I would think if Pierre McGuire got the GMs job, the verbal sparring between the two of them could be epic.

No...I didn't say that. You gave the fact that he was a former players as a positive in he becoming a GM. That's not necessarily true.

Keep twisting.

He's just there to help Molson. I don't see him being involved in day to day hockey operations. He's not there to be a "Bob Gainey".

When Gainey stepped down as GM the Habs were in better shape than the day he became GM. He's at fault for this mess to a point, but I think this is mostly on Gauthier.

I could see PM get totally shut out of all communications with the GM's due to all the "private talks" he has had over the years as an analyst.
