That's up to you, he's cussin' Harper Braiden, cussin' Harper. I like this gillings fella, but cussin' Harper?
- pete26

I don't necessarily have a problem with Harper, but he's not doing much to help out the country in these hard times. The mission of most politicians, make it look like you're doing something while disturbing society as little as possible.

Unfortunately, Harper is following this while the country needs some real action in order for us to not end up where the States now are financially.

Sorry for my political rants, but I lost my 2nd income today thanks to Government cuts while they get to keep their great 6 figure bonuses.

I think we'll have some concessions, and I'll consider this as a victory. As for the semester, this won't happen. They already struggle finding enough classes for all the courses because they are greedy and accept too many students. They couldn't keep those who are supposed to finish right now next fall while receiving new students.

The semester won't be cancelled, but because of those weeks of education I won't have, I know my diploma will have less value.

Interesting that enrollment wasn't an issue until the tuition was raised.

Superior studies are overrated these days. Seriously, too many people in Universities doing worthless degrees while others become construction workers, electricians, plumbers...etc and get a better salary than 75% of people with university degrees.
- BashCH

The universities just LOVE to open new programs. And you know what? They pay those with tuition fees. (frank), at the Université de Montréal, they just opened a minor in "Video games studies". That is just retarded.

People just like to think that they're doing it for others but in reality both sides just want more money in their pockets. Some are tired to pay taxes, others want a cheap diploma...

I don't give a (frank) about what the CLASSE, FEUQ of FECK say. They are for the most part (frank)ing clueless idiots who just want to prepare their eventual political career. I'm not forging my opinion on anything they say.

Remember the "Snail operation" by the baby boomers? QP probably does. For a whole summer, they drove at 40km/h so fees for a motorcycle permit wouldn't go up. That must have pissed a lot of people. And that worked.

But I still think those who blocked the bridge are idiots.

Guy I knew was a math and science genius, we were talking and he said, "I want to take philosophy as my major and teach it in university." Suddenly I knew that those 'genius' cards are bullpoop.

I think everybody has been really tired of those whiny female doges for a while now...makes me laugh when I see people saying stuff like "wow, 200K students, everybody is with us, "for the raise" people must feel so alone right now..." Yeah, 200K over 8M people is "everybody"....math course 514 is far huh ?

I am studying transportation planning a lot lately (yes, even when I'm on strike).

I know that this particular time where you got blocked by the students, you were delayed and I understand this pisses you off.

But what about all the other times you were stuck in traffic? Who's responsible?

Also, I'm participating in a protest this monday that is specifically about UdeM's bad management of operational funds.

They bought a old nun's place close to the uni and said they build more classrooms out of it. 5 years later, they sell it off for peanuts to a private company that'll turn it into condos...

When I was at UQAM 5 years ago, we made a lot of protests (I even got suspended) about how badly mismanaged the "Îlot Voyageur" was. UQAM lost a poopload of money (à même les budgets d'opération) and now UdeM bought it.

Money that's supposed to go to teaching goes into land speculation...

Well, those who are for the raise will say everybody except the students are for, and those who are against it will say everybody are on their side. It has always been the same thing. Right now, the for/against ratio is like 49/51.

And eventually the permit price went up anyways just more all at once.
Remind me again how many increases there have been in tuition in the last 40 years and how many cost of living increases there have been in the same time period.
