Thanks for the insight.

And yes the habs have been plagued by injuries, but he had no backup plan for Markov.

And therefore had to trade for Kaberle, yet another overpaid player.

- QuebecPride

Markov never should have been signed to a big three year deal, there's no back up plan to losing your supposed #1 D.

When Kaberle isn't in the lineup, I almost can convince myself this trade never went down.

Almost.

Even if we've never heard of him, you can bet your next paycheck that 50% of the fans and media will say he's the best guy for the job and the other 50% will say it is a terrible choice.

Marinaro obviously being on the 50% of the media saying he is the worst possible choice.

What a gong show it would be if Roy was named.

but healthy, they would be fighting for their usual eight place finish instead of looking at a top 3 pick.
- l3ig_l2ecl

No they would not be...every team has injuries... Montreal just sucks and is not able to overcome them because they have no depth in the organization...

I hope Gauthier learned it on twitter and that Molson called him 30 minutes later.

At least, it would be "entertaining".

I had a long chat with Pierre on Saturday night when the Habs played here in Philadelphia and he told me he thought he would be ok. He also said that between the Habs and Bulldogs there were 15 players out with injuries (representing $46M in salary) and that left the team with nine "fill ins" in the lineup that night. Hard to blame Pierre for there being so many injuries but life is not fair in love, war, and hockey ... especially in Montreal. Pierre will land on his feet however.

He can go to hell if he can't admit his own mistakes and make these lame excuses.

This is the type of thinking that has caused the team to suck for the past 19 years. Not only are they more qualified experienced candidates, you would consider giving an inexperienced person BOTH positions....
- RENATO6

so you're saying pick a former NHL GM?

Can pass a thread through a needle and a wicked wrister that he never uses enough....but not enough to overcome his deficiencies in today's league....it's too bad

Either way a lot of the mentionned options are probably terrible.

The new Habs GM will be the SIXTH since 1995; prior to that only 3 since 1946. Worse job security than being a Mob boss.

My question is why fire him today unless they had found the person the wanted to hire or atleast had narrowed it down.

Is roy's team in the playoffs?

It's ridiculous to believe this isn't his mess.

He was also in the organizational group that traded for Gomez and as a result gave the Rangers a solid defenseman and the cap space to sign Gaborik

probably. I think he'd be a bad choice as coach, but do less damage in that position.

The good news is there should be no players feeling a need to step up and win one because of it.
