I had a long chat with Pierre on Saturday night when the Habs played here in Philadelphia and he told me he thought he would be ok. He also said that between the Habs and Bulldogs there were 15 players out with injuries (representing $46M in salary) and that left the team with nine "fill ins" in the lineup that night. Hard to blame Pierre for there being so many injuries but life is not fair in love, war, and hockey ... especially in Montreal. Pierre will land on his feet however.

Bigger name teams that bring in more people in the stands and make the playoffs quite often pay their GM's more. The average for the NHL GM is 1.5 million. Some GM's are bringing in around 3 million...

I think he will be okay financially..

He was offered both the GM and the Head Coaching job in Colorado.

I think Roy is involved in this org next year, whether it is as GM, coach or both.

Personnally I want Damphousse as GM.

- QuebecPride

Roy says he is ready now for NHL. Either here or for Newdiques.

He was the one who resigned Markov to a three year deal at almost 6 mill a season.

Thanks for the insight.

And yes the habs have been plagued by injuries, but he had no backup plan for Markov.

And therefore had to trade for Kaberle, yet another overpaid player.

but healthy, they would be fighting for their usual eight place finish instead of looking at a top 3 pick.

This is the type of thinking that has caused the team to suck for the past 19 years. Not only are they more qualified experienced candidates, you would consider giving an inexperienced person BOTH positions....

Even if we've never heard of him, you can bet your next paycheck that 50% of the fans and media will say he's the best guy for the job and the other 50% will say it is a terrible choice.

Marinaro obviously being on the 50% of the media saying he is the worst possible choice.

around 25% of that salary being Gomez and Gionta. I was disappointed with the way he handled Pearn, Martin, Cunneyworth, Cammalari, Gill...it just showed a lack of class on his part.
