draft it up burke, its our road to success.

as for this weekend, we play buff twice, if we beat em twice they will be hurting for a playoff spot, but, realistically...id rather us lose both and solidify a top 5, possibly top 3!

dozzer; doing ok buddy, lost in our championship game last night, we sucked, refs sucked, and we just came out flat footed, too many leaf fans on our team i guess LOL

How 'bout a bit of both. I wouldn't be opposed to some good signings and I think he's going to have to trade for a goalie.

From an earlier thread.

it's not like it's just between the pipes.. this team is hooped from top to bottom. it's 100% on burke. he's got this team so (frank)ed up it's not even funny.

reimer should've been in the ahl this season.. at the very least, attempting to run the entire season with 2 goalies barely experienced at the nhl level was suicide. we're lucky we made it as far as we did before it imploded. bozak is not a #1 center, and signing connolly does not make up for it. bozak is being given the same sentence stajan did, expected to perform above his abilities, and held accountable when it doesn't pan out. it wasn't as bad as it could've been this season, but it won't turn out great.

grabovski could've been traded for a great pick, and possibly a prospect as well, and instead burke signs him for 5 years? macarthur and kulemin as well. they're barely second line forwards, coming off their peak value, and he holds on to them like a can't miss rare type forward that will never be able to be replaced? liles gets resigned, and goes invisible for the season.

connolly, komisarek, armstrong.. terrible contracts he's stuck with. rush moves that have had the adverse affect on the team. phaneuf is not a captain, and is highly overrated. his defensive game is nightmarish, and his offensive game is not exactly drew doughty-esque.. not enough to warrant the praise he gets. kessel is as talented as they come, but can't be expected to carry a team. i'm not exactly sure hiring a coach that was the most similiar style coach you could find to the one that assisted in creating this mess was a great idea either..

i'm not exactly screaming for burkes head. he's an intelligent, experienced gm, that has done alot of positives, and can going forward, but there's no way this isn't his fault, entirely. he needs to drop the arrogance, it's not going to get anywhere in this city. shut your mouth when it comes to the media. enough with the arrogant proclamations. it puts added, unreasonable pressure on the players, the fans don't eat the bullpoop, the media does. and they will set you on fire when it goes wrong. stop with the rush moves, and poor contracts. he's done what every other gm in toronto has done from the outset, try to forgo a proper rebuild. this team isn't, and has never been anything close to a playoff team.

i'm blown away that our young players can excel in this environment in any fashion.

Reimer: was playing average to above average prior to his concussion symptoms. He's still not back yet, it seems to come and go. Different players and different injury conditions make for different recovery times. The kid is in and out. Also psychologically there is a hestitation from being run which is causing him to back into his crease. IMO hopefully he recovers for next year. He didn't just get crap. His lack of position has showed a weak glove hand however which was not as evident last year when he was playing his angles better.

Connolly, Komisarek and Armstrong were bad signings but everyone in the media and a large portion of the fan base agreed with them at the time. Hindsight is 20/20 and Burke did what everyone demanded then, he signed the best guys he could. No one predicted Connolly's fall or relegation to a checking roll, nobody could have foreseen Armstrong"s injuries, and Komisarek IMO was a victim of the system he was asked to play which does not work for his skill set. He is not fast, nor can he do too much. He is our strongest presence in front of our net, but gets caught wandering sometimes. Carlyle will make his positioning better and simplify his game. He is what we signed. He's a bargain in todays NHL at his salary next year.

Lombardi was a nessessary aquistion to obtain Franson. Don't know why they given him so long at this level to find his game, other than they were afraid someone might claim him off waivers.

Dupuis no real excuse. bad signing, and poor play, any guy from the Marlies could have been brought up to fill his role.

Kessel trade, (I can not believe everyone still goes off on this) Burke believed that his team would finish closer to the playoffs and that he was giving up an 8 - 13 pick and then even less the year after. Hindsight is 20/20, and we can all say he got hosed, but nobody knew the picks would be so high. Everyone was excited for Kessel at less than 4 first rounders. We all wished he signed an offer sheet for Stamkos, he would have to give up more for. Besides Boston paid him back for the oversight and bad luck in the Kaberle deal. It was not soo bad if you look at both deals together.

Phaneuf has been doing to much. It's a hard to juggle life and your job sometimes. Imagine your wife has the same type of life. Cut the kid some slack he's been doing all he can.

Overall everyone needs someone to blame, because things did not go well. Not the case. I believe we didn't bring in the right veteran leadership and we played a exciting but tough style for success this year. Setbacks can not always result in blowing it all up. I think Burke should have cut loose some contract weight in Connolly at the deadline and obtained whatever pick or picks he could get for him. He could have dangled some bait for overpayments, but nobody bought. He hung on to Wilson for far too long (athough he did not sign him, Fletcher did). Overall he has done everything he could for this team.

Tell the media and the fan base to shut up this year and let the man do his job and see what happens. Don't drool over every free agent and demand he obtain them for whatever the richest team holds in the coffers. Give Carlyle the benefit of the doubt that he knows more about hockey than you. Let's see where these team ends up. I like our prospects much more than I have in 30 + years, although not tops in the NHL and not laden with superstars we have some good guys who should manage some good careers.

Burke may not deserve the key to the city but I don't believe everything is his fault, the media and fan base have to look in the mirror a bit.

Man, I haven't been following this site or team lately at all. Probably a good month if not longer...only a few games left in the season, guess I'll check on the standings to see how the playoff race is going

*checks standings on TSN*

Hmm, that's strange. Must be a typo.

*checks standings on NHL.com*
*checks standings on sportsnet*
*checks standings on The Score*

*sighs*

*Googles "How to drink yourself to death"*

lol have you looked at the UFA list this year? its ugly.

http://www.mynhltraderumo...free-agents-unrestricted/

i'd rather avoid that market like plague.. and.. as a side note.. anyone who female doges about the grabo contract being absurd needs to look at this list.. and if they still feel that way after looking at this list then they have absolutely no concept of supply and demand and how that very basic business princible effects sports contracts.

Question what would you do with the Number 1 or Number 2 pick?

Number 2 could get interesting ideas.

5.5 is a lot... seeing as how the season went, I would rather have gotten another first and kept the cap space... for our next rebuild
