I saw play all the prospects all the time next year: Scrivens and Reims the goalie tandem, Colborne the first line C, Kadri and Frattin top 6 wingers, Blacker and Holzer on D, Abbott and whoever we draft this year on the roster.
We clear up tons of cap space going into Getz & Perry's UFA years, and we masturbate for Nate!
Now going into 2013/2014 we have a core of elite players, we fill in the blanks with trades and prudent signings, and become perennial contenders again.

I suspect you'll have no problem finding support on this board for that part.

where do I sign. As long as we can dump Lomb. Connolol..and maybe komi
Getz and Perry are going to want to come play for Randy again just like Richards signed with NYR so he could play for Torts. Slam dunk, right? - 1979AD
One other thing I have come to terms with is we will never sign a Parise, Suter, Getzlaf, perry or any other elite talent.. We will have to draft our own, and then we can get the pieces around that player but no team is going to trade them to us, or they will not sign with TO.... maybe with a new GM..but under Burke and his stipulations..no way

It's a little known fact, but did you know that in Quebec, and especially in Montreal, that they actually use poutine to repair potholes? - As_I_See_It

This is based on what? Burke is supposed to be the "player's GM"... didn't you see him cry over putting Colton Orr on waivers? That and his self imposed holiday trade deadline, and look at the opportunity to make it he's given goalies like Cloutier and Gustavsson.
I would contest it's the media spotlight and team reputation that's keeping UFA's away more than the GM.
“My role model for building teams is (GM) Bill Torrey and the great (New York Islanders) teams,” Burke said. “Skilled. Belligerent. Big teams, built from the net out.
This is totally unrelated to tonights game, but I was having a conversation with my Habs friend over lunch and we were discussing trade proposals between our two teams (we usually never come close to any agreements). He asked for Gardiner and I informed him Gardiner was untouchable. He responded with this:
To Montreal: Komisarek
Gardiner
To Toronto: Diaz
Leblanc
Montreal's 1st
I accepted for two primary reasons: Montreal's first, and the shedding of Komisarek's contract. He liked the deal because it makes the Habs D look like this:

Burkie ..April 2010.

You should send those quotes to Damian Cox, who wrote a ridiculous article (I use that term loosely) defending Burke and telling Leaf fans they've been impatient with Burke's rebuild so far.
