Well, you can use those picks to get a young defenseman out of this deep defensvie draft, or you can trade them. IMO a 1st and 2nd is more valuable then Bob playing 20 games from the bench. We can sign a vet goalie like Nitty to handle back-up.

But how does that help us now?

So we go draft a guy who may be able to play 3-4 years down the road... and sign an oft injured backup who passed through waivers? What happens if Bryz somehow goes down long term?

The UFA market for goalies is very poor, and there are a lot of teams that either need a starting goalie, or an upgrade. I could see Tampa as a team that doesnt want to give up the house for Schneider, Bernier, Enroth, Lindback... But may be willing to give us some picks for Bobrovsky. Plus Flyers and Tampa already have trading history...

And besides... Tampa didn't need a goalie as bad at the deadline as they will this off-season with Roloson most likely retiring.

I don't think there's much of a difference between the ability and readiness of either guy for starting in the NHL.

And they probably don't view either guy as too much of an upgrade over Tokarski. Rumor is that Yzerman is waiting for Schneider to become available.
