I agree on the first line. Hamonic is a player. Jury is still out on Nilsson and Poulin, they have the tools. We'll see just how much development they got this year. There are so many other things that this team lacks to even be considered a competitive team, forget about "competing for the Stanley Cup". Not happening for quite a while with Snows record of trades, acquisitions, or lack there of. Its great to have Taveras, Moulson, Hamonic, and even PA but there are so many other holes in this team from the coach to the goaltender to the defense to the offence from anywhere else but that first line. I'd be the first one to shake Snows's hand if he tryed then failed. Got someone with even a decent resume to coach, play, or do a damn thing for this team and then it did'nt work out. I did not think this team for a second with this coach, defense, goaltending, the whole damn team from top to bottom would do a thing and anyone who thought they would was forget about drinking it, they were inhaling the cool aide and believing the usual shat thats come from the owner to the management on down. Its not a conspiracy theory that every hockey paper, reporter, or insider picked them to finish last or right near the bottom.
I want this team to succeed more than anyone but I can't see them making enough improvements just from what Ive seen to be competitive for ANY length of time. Thinking Snow will be "forced" to spend is ludicrous. The only thing our GM has proved is being able to circumvent and find loop holes in the NHL's salary floor rules. He will spend on rookies that are'nt ready and veterans that are way past their prime. Thats what hes done and there is no reason to believe that he won't continue to do so. Him proclaiming that this season would be a failure if we did'nt make the playoffs did nothing to inspire him to make a move with a coach, player, trade, or otherwise what makes next year any different? Or the following for that matter?
Him sitting on his hands and telling the fanbase everything is OK in Islanders Country does not make him a genius or a good GM. The only people or fans for that matter that Ive heard say anything positive about the job he has done has been on here? All of a sudden Snow is going to start wheeling and dealing getting even decent veterans, players, or a coach to complement all these picks hes made over the last six years? I find that extremely doubtful. Does'nt matter what the excuses are, why he can't or won't. His record speaks for itself and his record can't in any way be thought of as good up to this point.
I hope you Snow birds are right, I just don't see it and have zero idea how anyone else can?

I hope not!

Schultz isn't signing with the Ducks..here's to throwing a big offer at him.

A little birdie has told me he will be signing with Vancouver if fellow Wisconsin teammates Ryan McDonagh and Derek Stepan can't convince him to join the Rangers.

they had no choice..if they called poulin up they would have no goalie in bridgeport except a recently signed college backup..Nilsson is still about a week away

i was talking about the emergence of a REAL NHL 1st line.
The growth of Hamonic into a legit top 4 D-men
Nilsson & Poulin's development

to name a few...

There have been some positives, but way too many negatives to call what this team is experiencing "progress". The bottom line is the only thing that matters is results. From a team perspective, this team didn't grow at all this year. It actually was more disappointing than last year' team, considering that this team was relatively healthy all year and still couldn't finish out of the bottom five of the league (if that is in fact where they wind up).

The past five seasons have seen this team finish in the bottom five of the league. over the past two seasons, we've seen a team come out unprepared to start a season, fall massively behind in the standings by December and then play well when the pressure is off and the team is essentially out of a playoff hunt.

I'm glad some of the individual players like the first line, Hamonic and to a lesser extent Martin had impressive seasons, But everybody else either sucked, underperformed or, in the case of a few guys, just did what was expected.

so why aren't they just going to let Poulin or Nilsson play the remaining 6 games?

BP needs him for the playoff race.

Besides. Our next 5 games are against playoff teams, and there is no need to win

They are secretly taking

Agreed. Wake me when this team manages to not play itself into irrelevance in just the second month of the season. Until then, calling this "progress" is setting your expectations hopelessly low. I don't really care anymore if a player manages to put a three-point night together when the team is 12 points back from 8th, if that same player suddenly forgets how to play hockey when the team gets within 8 points. After last season's meaningless surge, I've learned to look beyond just the numbers put up by the end of the year.

Sorry if someone posted this in a previous blog, but is there a seating chart for the Barclays center anywhere, for hockey? We are getting 15 tickets today and none of us know how the seats are set up.

Where are you getting tickets? I went to the Barclays center site but can't find a link to buy tickets yet...other events have links, but that one just says tickets go on sale today.
