Very smart. With the latest problem with the building it may be impossible to sign a medicore FA. |

What if PA get offered over $5mill a year. Do you think he is worth that much? Thats what he has to be asking for. You Montreal will offer him that, at least. Weak FA market teams will offer a 60= point guy a lot of money and he will walk for the $. |

Nilsson is injured, the only other guy down there if Poulin is up, is a kid just out of college on an ATO. If Montoya goes down, they're screwed because Graeme isn't stopping many pucks. - shinkdew
werent we screwed when we missed the playoffs. What the point of winning now.
Btw, Montoya was our best goalie before he went got concussed. I believe he is only isles going with winning goalie record too. I have to double check that. |

i was talking about the emergence of a REAL NHL 1st line.
The growth of Hamonic into a legit top 4 D-men
Nilsson & Poulin's development
to name a few...

Please tell me your kidding. Regardless of the fact that the Islanders need to spend money, I wouldn't give him anymore than 3.5/4. Someone will give him more and that's fine. Bye bye if that's the case. |

That be may but it is the last thing the Islanders needed. It's hard enough to sign FA's. Isles are really going to have to rely on trades this offseason like never before. The only thing that would help is a new building deal before July 1 which is very very unlikely. |

I agree on the first line. Hamonic is a player. Jury is still out on Nilsson and Poulin, they have the tools. We'll see just how much development they got this year. There are so many other things that this team lacks to even be considered a competitive team, forget about "competing for the Stanley Cup". Not happening for quite a while with Snows record of trades, acquisitions, or lack there of. Its great to have Taveras, Moulson, Hamonic, and even PA but there are so many other holes in this team from the coach to the goaltender to the defense to the offence from anywhere else but that first line. I'd be the first one to shake Snows's hand if he tryed then failed. Got someone with even a decent resume to coach, play, or do a damn thing for this team and then it did'nt work out. I did not think this team for a second with this coach, defense, goaltending, the whole damn team from top to bottom would do a thing and anyone who thought they would was forget about drinking it, they were inhaling the cool aide and believing the usual shat thats come from the owner to the management on down. Its not a conspiracy theory that every hockey paper, reporter, or insider picked them to finish last or right near the bottom.
I want this team to succeed more than anyone but I can't see them making enough improvements just from what Ive seen to be competitive for ANY length of time. Thinking Snow will be "forced" to spend is ludicrous. The only thing our GM has proved is being able to circumvent and find loop holes in the NHL's salary floor rules. He will spend on rookies that are'nt ready and veterans that are way past their prime. Thats what hes done and there is no reason to believe that he won't continue to do so. Him proclaiming that this season would be a failure if we did'nt make the playoffs did nothing to inspire him to make a move with a coach, player, trade, or otherwise what makes next year any different? Or the following for that matter?
Him sitting on his hands and telling the fanbase everything is OK in Islanders Country does not make him a genius or a good GM. The only people or fans for that matter that Ive heard say anything positive about the job he has done has been on here? All of a sudden Snow is going to start wheeling and dealing getting even decent veterans, players, or a coach to complement all these picks hes made over the last six years? I find that extremely doubtful. Does'nt matter what the excuses are, why he can't or won't. His record speaks for itself and his record can't in any way be thought of as good up to this point.
I hope you Snow birds are right, I just don't see it and have zero idea how anyone else can? |

Hence why he should've been dumped at the deadline, someone will pay him that. We should'nt which does'nt make us smart, just makes us dumb for not getting a return... |

I really don't think we are that far forward wise
We need a big power foward whose mean for JT wing ( hopefully niƱo)
Hopefulu strome makes it the 2n line forward with pa. And hoping bailey can e the other winger there
Then we have petrov, Nelson, kabanov; if one turns into a top 6, we are in good hands
