non hockey for a moment...

don't know if any of you saw this yet, but being someone who uses Twitter a lot...

Spike Lee retweeted an address that he thought was the home address of George Zimmerman, the "white-Latino" who shot the black kid in Florida.

Turns out, it was the wrong address, he tweeted the address of an elderly 72 and 70 year old couple who now need to go into hiding, because some of Spike Lee's 50 thousand plus followers want to kill them.

Being someone who has elderly grandparents in Florida myself, if this little bastard had tweeted the address of my grandmother by mistake, there wouldn't be a place safe on the planet for him to hide.

what a goddam moron!

Spike Lee's response so far has been "ooops, sorry"

- jimbro83

I read it this morning, what a tool, if that's not grounds for serious compensation, I don't know what is.

Wow, what a moron. I don't know what really happened down there in that case, but whoever's side Sharpton & Jesse Jackson are on I'll take the opposite. They are despicable people themselves.

You can't teach effort & will & he has it, he's a winner & he will raise the Stanley Cup on behalf of the Ny Rangers before its all said & done.

I love how some people use the argument that he hasn't won a cup yet so how can he be one of the best captains in the league.

He really is one of the best, no two ways about it.

It is scary to say but he is pretty close to being as valuable as Hank. Cally is way to important to this lineup. The Rangers go as he does.

That showed up in last year's playoffs...the only time I ever heard Torts publically use an injured player as a reason they ever lost, if Cally is in that playoff series Game 4 turns out much differently...no doubt about it, he is invaluable and getting to be as clutch as anyone...between Feds, Cally and Richie we have 3 of the best clutch performers in the league...

I agree, I think more than Gabby or Richie if we lose Cally (again) for the playoffs it would be devestating. He is our little engine that could.

I haven't seen leadership like this with the Rangers since Messier.

Callahan is an outstanding player and leader but let's ease up on the Messier comparisons a bit.

Like all players, true greatness is measured in the postseason. If Callahan can lead this team to multiple titles than compare away.

But until then, bearing in mind I think Callahan is a wonderful captain, don't go there with Messier leadership comparisons.

Edit: How soon we forget about Jaromir Jagr and what he did for this franchise.

They were dead in the water, a laughingstock and in one year, with little help around him, he carried this team back to respectability. That's leadership on a high scale.

I don't think anyone has compared him to Messier. But it is not to far fetched to say he is the best since Messier.

Jagr gets overlooked too much I feel. Callahan has the makings of a great captain but Jagr was a heck of a leader too. Different type of leadership but he is a big part of the Rangers climb from league-wide joke to respectability.

Yea I agree Jagr was good to. It is so tough to judge this because it is all subjective. We have no idea what is going on behind closed doors or in the lockeroom. All we have is what is happening on the ice. The Rangers wouldn't be where they are in the standings without Cally. Tough to overlook for his first year.

Jagr also sacrficed a lot of what he believes in in terms of philosophy in exchange for playing a slow and deliberate style of "Renny hockey". You can see he struggled with it but he kept going b/c he understood that was the only way they were going to have any success...that being said, Cally is the heart and soul of this team and is the most indispensible player on this team...

Fair enough, but when you compare Callahan to good captains and fail to mention Jagr, no harm in throwing it out there.
