Good point. It really doesn't surprise me at all. At this point I expect it. Of course the Flyers are the only team out of 30 who's Captain is out for the Season, let alone career likely being over.
- PLindbergh31

So let's cry some tears and cry woe is me, and see who feels sorry for the Flyers and their fans. I for one am very excited about this teams prospects, and am very much looking forward to an exciting playoff season. And I'm hoping for big things from this team. My outlook is nothing but positive.

Pack up the keyboards and mice? Sir, are you new here? Controversy is reason enough to unpack even MORE keyboards and mice!

Right now I would sign on for Pronger leading a healthy life, and I'm sure he would do the same.

The word was he was supposed to see a specialist in Pittsburgh this week. I haven't seen any reports on if that happened yet or how it went.

Well, I for one would like them to win the whole thing or lose in no more than 5 in the first round. Because if I'm going to spend 1000s of dollars, I want a cup.

I spoke with Watson and he said Pronger plans on playing next year. Now I don't know what the doctor said or medically where he stands, but if he's feeling good enough to make that statement, it's at least got to be a good sign and show improvement from a few months ago.

All I'm hoping for is a healthy recovery and a normal life, but if he can return and captain the team next year, then that's be just great.

I second that! I know first things first (this year's run) but looking ahead I see no reason we can't compete with the Rangers, Pens, and Devils for years to come.

A few days ago someone had mentioned the World Cup, back in (96?). I was lucky enough to go to the Semi-Final between Sweden and Canada at the CoreStates Spectrum. Ahh, good memories.

Pens Flyers series will be awesome, although I wish I had your confidence about them getting past round one.

No Pronger, Mezzy, Jvr, a wounded Timmo, and a limping goalie is a lot to overcome against Crosby, Malkin, and Co.

But you never know, a good bounce here or there and it could happen.

The fact the Flyers will likely finish with more points than the Devils, and face a significantly tougher opponent in Round 1, is just another example of the NHL doing things ass backwards. Why should a team who wins a weak Division with far less points get home ice advantage in the first round? Plain dumb imo.

Flyers are going to have a tough road to get there, no doubt. But that's the way it's supposed to be. And talking about the injuries and everything else is just excuses. Look at the way that Pens team has played without Crosby? Do you think they'd be whining about it if he didn't come back going into the playoffs? Whining over injuries is for losers. With adversity comes opportunity. And great things are done and accomplished by overcoming adversity. That's the way a winner thinks. And that's the way I think the Laviolette and the Flyers think. I guarantee the Coach isn't even mentioning Pronger. He's not here, I'm over that and I think the team is also. They may get knocked out early. And as long as they compete and fight and don't go down easy. And they lose to a better team. I'm fine with that. Because I like this team. And I'm excited about the future of this team. That's my outlook.

And I'm not going to waste time whining and complaining about the injuries and the 29 other teams who don't have to deal with it.

Regardless how this season ends, we have a lot of years of great hockey coming our way with this young team.

If the re alignment goes through then it will get even worse.

Pitt
Rangers
NJ devils
Flyers
Caps
Carolina
Isles

will be a very tough conference to get out of alive.

The goaltender isn't young. He probably has 3-4 prime years left. Some goalies like Brodeur and Thomas play at a high level into their late 30's, but that is far from the norm, it's not unusual for goalies to fall off a cliff in the 33-35 age range.

I really don't like the idea of the first two rounds being purely within the conferivision. It's tilts the east in the Canadian teams' conferivision, in my opinion.

Yup for sure. It's only going to get more difficult as time goes on to win a Cup. I think the Flyers have a 3-4 year window right now to get something done.

Good I want it to be tough. Another thing that is a waste to complain about. The playoff seeding alignment has been in place for a while. It's the same for every team at the start of the Season. And you never know how teams are going to matchup and how a playoff Series goes. Lower seeds beat higher seeds all the time. So I say whoever the Flyers are going to play, bring em on. Let's drop the puck and see what happens.
