I wouldn't be happy going much higher than $5.5mm myself. That said, with the fairly weak FA class for defensemen, Carle could easily get an offer over that.

The problem isn't paying Carle, it's getting what Carle brings to the table for a reasonable amount on the cap hit. The only comparable UFA is Suter and he's likely going to get a huge raise. Is he better than Carle? Yes. Is he really that much better than Carle? I don't think so.

- Jsaquella

Who says you have to go through UFA to replace Carle? We are stacked at forwards... Why cant we trade someone plus Meszaros for a Top D-man? Then resign Kubina and Grossman.

Heck maybe you dont even have to move a forward... maybe you trade Bob and Meszaros to a team that needs a goalie bad... Maybe include some picks if its for someone like Hedman... Who knows, but we do know Homer has majic trade fingers...

Then you need to move guys off the roster and replace them. I'd rather have a healthy Meszaros than Kubina. Not to mention, teams might be apprehensive to take on a $4mm a year guy coming off back surgery.

Let's not forget, the Flyers won;t be the only ones looking for a solid puck mover if Carle leaves. So they'll have to outbid other teams for the services of one.

I watched the Kings/Canucks game last night. Richards is up to 2 goals in 31 games now. That is freaking beyond comprehension. I think the combination of added travel and his not being in optimum physical condition (my viewpoint anyways) has taken it's toll on him.

His body swaying saunters back to the bench at the end of his shift are becoming more pronounced.

Hopefully the news isnt bad. Im thinking negatively here bc why have an announcement at 4pm? Must be something going on.

To be fair, Los Angeles has been where offense goes to die.

Thats why I say anyone can be replaced. Have to find players who fit your system and what your trying to do. Names are great but its not the end all say all.

I'm not on Twitter, but I think it's hilarious that it was sarahbriere the whole time.

I saw the clip where they both met each other. He was a pretty good sport about it. Handed her a CSN Philly polo shirt I believe.

He has had a quietly good year, but last night, good grief. Danny too. It was an all around bad game. I see a very nice bounce back game Thursday.

There's very few guys that can't be replaced, but LA simply doesn't help offensive players. Been that way for several years now.

No doubt. I heard they're on pace for the lowest goals for total in nearly half a decade or something like that. Lot's of pressure on that squad right now. They might eke in. If not, Lombardi most probably will be out. I don't like Sutter for that team either.

They haven't been scoring for years. It's amazing, but it seems that no matter who goes there struggles to score.

But since Carter joined the team they are 4th in the league in scoring.... Thoughts? Opinions?
